Atlanta FaZe (9.9)
Atlanta FaZe proved that they were unplayable at times this year. A lackluster performance on LAN at Major 5 raised questions concerning their legitimacy in a non-online setting. FaZe rightfully silenced the doubters by comfortably securing the CDL 2021 Championship title. In addition to winning the playoffs, FaZe finished as the top team in the regular season. In comparison to second place Ultra’s series win percentage of 63%, FaZe’s 82.9% is outstanding. A total of 525 CDL points is difficult to process. Atlanta won a total of three out of five Major events and placed second at another.
One has to wonder if we’ll ever see as successful of a season in Call of Duty esports ever again. Playing with three MVP candidates isn’t as easy as people may think. Oftentimes Alec “Arcitys“ Sanderson’s play is what enables the remaining three to slay as well as they do. Coach James “Crowder” Crowder is yet another unsung hero who deserves a ton of credit for Atlanta’s success. He keeps these superstars focused. Although the verdict isn’t out yet, we may just be looking at Call of Duty’s next dynasty in the making.
