World of Warcraft: Forever is approaching its November 4 launch, with Blizzard closing the beta through a special in-game celebration and confirming a new Roleplaying-PvP ruleset following community feedback.
The final stretch of testing has brought two important developments for players preparing to return to Azeroth. While the beta farewell event gives testers one last opportunity to experience the game before launch, Blizzard’s latest announcement confirms that roleplayers who enjoy open-world combat will have a dedicated ruleset available from day one.
WoW: Forever Beta Finale Brings Chaos to Azeroth
Blizzard launched a special 24-hour Beta Farewell Tour on October 22, turning several starting zones into chaotic battlegrounds before the beta servers close. The event features powerful enemies, unusual encounters and activities intended to give testers a memorable send-off.
Players have been able to visit areas including Elwynn Forest, Dun Morogh, Durotar, Teldrassil, Tirisfal Glades, Mulgore and Zephras Isle. The celebration features familiar threats such as Azuregos and Lord Kazzak appearing in unexpected locations, alongside other surprises for players exploring the beta.
The event is a temporary celebration rather than a preview of permanent launch content. Blizzard has cautioned that some of the encounters and items introduced during the farewell event will not remain in WoW: Forever after release.
The beta is scheduled to conclude on October 23 at 10 a.m. PDT, bringing the testing period to an end as Blizzard prepares for the game’s official launch.
Blizzard Releases WoW: Forever End-of-Beta Podcast
Alongside the final beta celebrations, Blizzard has released a special episode of the official WoW: Forever podcast. Hosted by Countdown To Classic, the episode features special guest Meeix alongside members of the development team.
The discussion includes Senior Game Designer Josh “Aggrend” Greenfield, Associate Production Director Clay Stone, Lead Software Engineer Ana Resendez and Lead Encounter Designer Michael Nuthals. The group looks back at the beta and discusses the development of World of Warcraft: Forever ahead of its November release.
WoW: Forever Adds RP-PvP Ruleset After Community Feedback
Blizzard has also confirmed that WoW: Forever will launch with a dedicated Roleplaying-PvP ruleset on November 4. The decision follows discussions about whether the game should offer a realm type combining roleplaying with player-versus-player combat.
According to Aggrend’s official forum announcement, the developers had previously discussed their concerns about introducing the ruleset but continued reviewing player feedback and evaluating what would be required to implement it.
After considering the options, the team decided to move forward with RP-PvP for launch. Blizzard also confirmed that players will be able to reserve character names on these realms during the upcoming reservation period.
Name reservations are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 27. The addition means players who want to combine roleplaying with open-world PvP can prepare their characters before the game launches.
The decision is an important development for the roleplaying community, giving players another option when choosing how they want to experience the world. Rather than having to select between a dedicated roleplaying environment and a PvP-focused ruleset, interested players will be able to choose a realm designed to accommodate both interests.
When Does WoW: Forever Launch?
World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch globally on November 4, 2026. The end of the beta marks the transition from testing to the final preparations for release.
Players can use the October 27 name reservation period to secure their preferred character names, including on the newly confirmed RP-PvP ruleset.
With the beta closing, the developers reflecting on the testing period and the RP-PvP decision now confirmed, Blizzard is entering the final stage of preparation for the launch.
