Tough 2023 Start for Astralis CS:GO and LEC but Many Positives

The 2023 season for Astralis’ CS:GO and LEC teams got off to a rocky start but there are many positives for the Danish organization.

The Re-emergence of a CS:GO Legend

The Astralis Counter-Strike team began their 2023 campaign by facing off against former teammates of Peter “Dupreeh” Rasmussen and Emil “Magisk” Reif in the BLAST Premier Spring Groups. Eventually, the match ended in a hard-fought 0-2 defeat to Vitality.

This was Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz‘s first LAN game back for Astralis as well as Buzz’ debut in the red jersey. Fortunately, for Astralis, Buzz only needed the very first round to prove that he is right where he belongs.

Buzz achieved a rare feat by eliminating the entire opposing team of Vitality with a single move, known as an “ace.” Although his performance dropped slightly afterward, it was a remarkable start to his journey with Astralis.

In another series of positives for Astralis, dev1ce made an immediate impact upon his return. The CS:GO legend executed many impressive plays and appeared to be in perfect harmony with his teammates.

This trend continued a few days later when the team faced off against Heroic. It was a challenging match and resulted in a close 1-2 loss. However, the positives for Astralis are that this newly formed group pushed the Heroic team members to their limits.

Astralis LEC Squad in Berlin

The Astralis League of Legends team, now based in Berlin, has undergone a significant change in its performance setup. They began the first of three LEC seasons this past weekend.

Unfortunately, the results for the Astralis CS:GO team were similar to the LEC team. The first week of LEC games did not go as planned and resulted in three consecutive losses.

Undoubtedly, this has put pressure on the team to secure a spot in playoffs. However, there are still many games left, and optimism remains.
