Fortnite FNCS Duos Finals: Hen & Queesy Clutch EU, Bugha & Mero Dominate NAE

The $3,000,000 Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) Chapter 3 Season 1 tournament ended with a flourish. The North America East (NAE) region was completely dominated by the eventual winners. The European (EU) region was much more contested. It all came down to an exciting win in the final game.

Europe (EU)

In the EU region, Guild Esport’s Henrik “Hen” Mclean and Aleksa “Queasy” Cvetkovic secured first place with an exciting win in the final game. Hen clutched the final game with spectacular solo gameplay to eventually secure high ground. From this advantageous position, he was able to gain eliminations and secure the final Victory Royale. With this win, Hen has become a 3-time FNCS winner. Hen’s partner, Queasy, is surprisingly still a free agent. He will more than likely get signed by a top European team after this great FNCS performance.

One of the best EU storylines was that of Fusion Esports’ Nikita “Stormyrite” Kulak. In the days preceding the finals, Stormyrite had tweeted about the precarious situation in his home country of Ukraine and how he was forced to evacuate. Fortunately, Stormyrite was finally able to find a safer haven and competed successfully in the FNCS finals. He and his teammate, Kirill “kiryache’ Grishin, who is from Russia, had an incredibly strong showing and barely missed out on a first-place finish. They ultimately secured a sole second-place finish in the final game. Kiryache is another free agent who will now have many more opportunities to get signed by one of the top EU teams.

Falcon Esports’ Tai “TaySon” Starčič and Astralis’ Thomas “Th0masHD” Høxbro Davidsen had a very good chance to get the win right up to the very end. Unfortunately for them, they were both eliminated early in the final game. However, they still had top-notch performances throughout the tournament and were able to secure the third-place prize.

North America East (NAE)

The NAE was a foregone conclusion after the first few games on the second day. Sentinel’s Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf and Team New Age’s “Mero” were able to secure their Chonker’s Speedway drop completely uncontested. This multiple-FNCS-winners team was also able to get sufficient surge tags on their rotates into the third and fourth circles. But they saved their best for last unleashing their endgame expertise with consistently high eliminations and placements.

Second and Third place in the NAE went to newer participants that could be classified as dark horses. “Spayde” and WL Gaming’s “Chimp” had the most eliminations in the region downing 54 opponents to finish in second place. Fusion’s Ethan “Smite” Wuerfl and Team 33’s “Larson” were able to secure third place with solid eliminations and consistent placement points over both tournament days.
