After a little over a year in the female Counter Strike scene in Europe, XSET Female sights on a new challenge: Valorant.
XSET’s entire female Counter Strike team to move to Valorant
Julia “juliano” Kiran of XSET Female revealed on Twitter that she and the rest of her team would be making the permanent move to Valorant. juliano has been with XSET Female Counter Strike since November 2020. But she and her team have also competed in Valorant since May 2021.
Kiran announced on September 16th that she was retiring from professional CS: GO. Shortly after her Tweet, she reassured her fans that though she was retiring from CS, she wasn’t finished competing in esports. A follow-up Tweet saw her revealing that she was moving on to Valorant.
Here comes the rest of the roster
A couple of days after announcing her retirement from CS and move to Valorant, juliano explained that her whole team was dropping Counter Strike for Valorant as well. We could very well see juliano with Zainab “zAAz” Turkie and the rest of XSET competing in high-level Valorant once more.
A timely announcement
Barely over a week before juliano’s announcement, Riot Games revealed that Valorant Game Changers was expanding to Europe. It would seem that along with other top organizations in Europe, XSET is looking to take advantage of Riot Games’ growing VCT platform.
VCT Game Changers EMEA Series 1 is set to have a prize pool of 20,000 Euros, with 8,000 Euros heading to the victor. It’s the largest prize pool for any all-female Valorant tournament in EMEA to date. Then there’s the second series, and a third with 50,000 Euros up for grabs.
The EU scene will see Valorant Game Changers Series 1 start on September 27th. The 32-team long list of participants hasn’t been released yet, but we expect to see juliano and her team under XSET Female’s banner come game time.
