World of Warcraft: Forever could eventually expand beyond its initial class lineup, as a recent Blizzard survey has given players a look at several concepts that could potentially be added to the game.
The survey, which appeared to selected players through the Battle.net launcher, included a range of familiar and entirely new class concepts. Among them were Bard, Witch, Tinker, Necromancer, Illusionist, Warden, San’layn and Rune Knight.
However, Blizzard has not confirmed that any of these classes are currently in development or will be added to WoW: Forever. The survey appears to be gathering player feedback on different possibilities for the game’s future.
WoW: Forever Survey Includes 11 Class Concepts
According to reports from players who received the survey, Blizzard presented 11 potential class concepts.
The list included:
- Demon Hunter
- Warden
- Death Knight
- Necromancer
- San’layn
- Witch
- Tinker
- Bard
- Illusionist
- Monk
- Rune Knight, also referred to in some reports as a rune-based concept under different names
Several of these classes already exist in some form in modern World of Warcraft. Death Knight, Demon Hunter and Monk, for example, are established classes in the main game.
The survey also included several concepts that have never been playable as standalone classes in World of Warcraft, including Bard, Witch, Tinker, Illusionist and Necromancer.
The inclusion of these concepts is particularly notable because WoW: Forever is being designed as a separate experience rather than simply recreating the modern version of the MMO.
What Could the New Classes Look Like?
The survey reportedly went beyond simply asking players whether they liked certain class names. Participants were shown descriptions covering potential roles, armor types and example abilities.
The Bard concept, for example, was described as a support and healing class using leather armor. Its abilities would revolve around songs capable of strengthening allies and weakening enemies.
The Witch would focus on ranged damage and support while wearing cloth armor. One of its described abilities involves creating a cauldron capable of buffing allies, while another concept reportedly allows the Witch to summon a Blood Golem at the cost of some of its own health.
The Tinker is another particularly distinctive concept. It was described as a mail-wearing class capable of tanking, dealing ranged damage and providing support. Its toolkit reportedly includes a personal mech, rockets and supplies that can help allies.
Meanwhile, the Illusionist would focus on ranged damage and could create magical copies and other creatures to fight alongside the player.
The Necromancer concept would also specialize in ranged damage, with abilities based around death magic, summoned creatures and corpses.
San’layn and Rune Knight Also Appear
The survey also reportedly included San’layn and Warden concepts.
San’layn, the vampiric faction associated with the undead, was described as a plate-wearing class capable of filling multiple combat roles. Reported abilities include Blood Bolt, Blood Mirror and Vampiric Bite, with some abilities involving health manipulation.
The Rune Knight concept was reportedly designed around runes and runic power, with potential tank, healing and melee damage roles.
There have also been conflicting reports over the name of this particular concept, with some players referring to it as Rune Knight, Runemaster, Runesmith or Metalborn. These appear to represent variations of the same general concept rather than several separate classes.
Blizzard Has Not Confirmed Any New Classes
Despite the amount of detail reportedly included in the survey, players should not interpret it as an announcement.
Blizzard has not confirmed that Bard, Witch, Tinker, Necromancer, San’layn, Warden, Illusionist, Rune Knight or any of the other surveyed concepts will be added to WoW: Forever.
The survey was also not distributed universally. Reports from Blizzard’s official forums indicate that some players received the survey through the Battle.net launcher while others did not see it.
That makes the survey more useful as an indication of ideas Blizzard is interested in testing with players than as a roadmap for upcoming content.
Still, the breadth of the concepts gives WoW: Forever players an interesting look at how the game could evolve after launch.
World of Warcraft: Forever is currently in beta and is scheduled to launch on November 4, 2026. If Blizzard eventually decides to introduce new classes, the survey suggests that the possibilities could extend well beyond the classes available in the original version of World of Warcraft.
