RED Canids are the new kings of the Brazilian League of Legends league, CBLoL, and they are going to attend the Worlds event this year.
The Brazilian community involves one of the biggest and most passionate fans all around the globe. It is one of the most-watched League of Legends leagues per EsportsCharts. This year, the Split 2 champion RED Canids will participate in Worlds Playins. They have many great talents on their roster but is that enough against the “big guys”?
RED Canids was found in 2016, by Felippe “Fekz” Corradini and Joao “JP” Paulo Garcia. Back in 2017, the roster looked strong but they waited until today for an achievement. In 2019, RED Canids continued their way in BRCC, the lower division of CBLoL. However, today they are the Brazilian representatives in Worlds.
CBLoL 2021 Split 2 – RED Canids
The Brazilian team failed to make a solid start to the split. At the end of the regular season, they were sitting in sixth place, barely making it to the playoffs. However, the playoff buff got real as they eliminated all of their opponents, starting with a clean sweep over Flamengo Esports. Their next opponent were the second-seeded team, Vorax Liberty. Surprisingly, Vorax Liberty could not resist RED Canids’ supremacy. The all-Brazilian roster beat Rensga Esports in the finals to lift the trophy and participate in Worlds 2021 Playins.
Roster Quality and Individual Performances
To be honest, RED Canids have a lot of individual potentials to show off during the event. However, they don’t look like the best wildcard team. Their jungler, Gabriel “Aegis” Vinicius Saes de Lemos, showed his mechanical abilities during the regional tournament but it may not be enough against other regions as the team play will play the most important part. RED Canids’ top side duo Aegis and Guilherme “GUIGO” Ruiz looked strong, especially during playoffs.
On top of that, their mid laner, Daniel “Grevthar” Xavier is definitely a genius when it comes to understanding the mechanics of the game. To be honest, I haven’t seen a more consistent mid laner for a long time in Brazil. His consistency is definitely the most important aspect of his game style and solid mechanics are like the cherry on top.
The last pieces of the RED Canids roster are Alexandre “TitaN” Lima dos Santos, and Gabriel “Jojo” Dzelme de Oliveira. We saw TitaN against other champions in the past international tournaments but he failed to catch the hype the Brazilian fans had. This may change thanks to Jojo. They looked solid during the regular season and playoffs.
Group Draw
RED Canids will compete against Hanwha Life Esports, Infinity Esports, LNG Esports, and PEACE. It would be pretty optimistic to think that they could beat Hanwha Life Esports and LNG Esports. However, they have a solid chance against Infinity Esports and PEACE. The Oceania representatives will not have their main roster because of visa issues, and Infinity Esports are the ones to watch. RED Canids have to win against Infinity to make it to the elimination round.
To sum up, RED Canids may not be the strongest team Brazil has ever sent to international tournaments but they are definitely a candidate. If you ever watched Grevthar’s streams, you could see that their friendship is on another level and that is the first step to become a strong team. This year, RED Canids may surprise all of us with their insane chemistry.
