Epic Games surprised fans Thursday morning by bringing the Ferrari 296 GTB to Fortnite. The battle royale is already well-known for its celebrity and brand collaborations, but the hybrid sports monster is the first licensed car to appear in the hugely popular game. Here’s where you can find it on the island.
Since their addition about a year ago, cars have been a crucial component of Fortnite, but they’ve all been generic representations of various types of vehicles, such as sedans, pickup trucks and sports cars. The newly introduced Ferrari will be similar to its counterparts in terms of gameplay and mechanics but its appearance and the engine’s sound are exactly like what you’d hear from the real car.
Where to find the Ferrari in Fortnite
Ferraris, as you might expect, have become a popular item in battle royale games, making it difficult to accomplish objectives, much alone get your hands on one. So, we’ve done our homework and discovered the places where you can find a Ferrari vehicle with some consistency: just remember that you won’t be the only one chasing after it.
We were able to locate two places where Ferraris spawned quite consistently at the time of writing. However, like with other cars in Fortnite, its spawn might be a bit unpredictable at times.
Simply enter the parking garage, located east of Holly Hatchery, and look for the red vehicle parked there. This location is usually the most reliable; therefore, try to arrive here before the other players.
If it’s not there, you can also try this spot on the bridge east of Slurpy Swamp. You’ll find it towards the end of the bridge, near the barricades and traffic cones.
At Lazy Lakes, players may notice a Ferrari spawn at the gas station or car dealership.
As you might remember, the Week 7 Challenges asked players to complete three Whiplash Challenges:
- Reach top speed in a Whiplash 0/1 – 30 000 XP
- Drive a Whiplash through the Storm 0/1 – 30 000 XP
- Complete Whiplash Time Trials 0/1 – 30 000 XP
However, the latest update introduced a hotfix which caused all Whiplash Challenges to be changed to Ferrari 296 GTB. Hence players will have to attempt all three of the aforementioned challenges with a Ferrari in Fortnite.
Reach top speed in a Ferrari 296 GTB – 30 000 XP
Players can reach a top speed in the Ferrari by driving it on a straight road because driving off-road will only see you slow down. Try boosting as quickly as you can. If you follow these steps, you should get a notification informing you the quest was completed.
Drive a Ferrari 296 GTB through the Storm – 30 000 XP
The second quest is perhaps the easiest out of the three since you have to ride the Ferrari into the storm for only a few seconds and can reenter instantaneously. However, you should only attempt this next challenge if you have a sufficient amount of health and make sure that the Ferrari has a sufficient amount of fuel so that you can drive away from the storm as it starts shrinking.
Complete Ferrari 296 GTB Time Trials – 30 000 XP
The Time Trials are the final Epic Quest that involves the Ferrari. We recommend heading to Lazy Lake for this challenge since you’ll often find a Ferrari there. On the east side of Lazy Lake, right outside the A Lot O’ Auto building, you’ll find the Whiplash Time Trial. Once you get here, you should see the blue arrow with a stopwatch and a tire beneath it. This indicates the start of the time trial.
Simply get in a Ferrari and head over to the arrow and you’ll be able to begin the time trial itself. Complete the route before the time runs out. Don’t worry if you don’t get it done the first time: you can try it again later.
Fortnite isn’t the only battle royale game with official cars. Tesla has been recently introduced to PUBG: Mobile, including Model Ys that take you to predetermined locations and self-driving Tesla Semis that transport combat supplies.
