Discord Soundboard: Explained
Soundboard is the latest feature of Discord that lets users play sounds. Before Soundboard, people used third-party apps like Soundpad, etc. Now, the company has eliminated the hassle with a built-in feature.
“Soundboard is a voice channel feature that allows you to play a short audio clip that can be heard by all participants in the same voice channel. Much like Reactions and Super Reactions, Soundboard is a way for you to express yourself and react to the voice channel’s conversation or Go Live stream,” says Discord.

How to use it?
It is very easy to use as you only have to click once or twice. Please follow the steps below to upload your sounds and play them once they are uploaded. You can also use Discord’s preinstalled sounds.
If you want to use preinstalled sounds, follow the steps below:
- Go to Discord.
- Join a voice channel.
- At the bottom left corner, click Open Soundboard. (Near Start Activity button)
- Click any of the Discord sounds. (Quack, airhorn, cricket, golf clap, sad horn, ba dum tss.)

If you want to upload your own sounds, here is how to do it:
- Join a voice channel in Discord.
- Click Open Soundboard.
- Click + Add Sound.
- Hover over to browse and choose a local from your PC.
- Give the sound a name and add a related emoji. (Emoji is optional).
- Adjust the sound volume.
- Hit Upload.
Is Discord Soundboard free?
Yes, you can use Discord Soundboard for free. Every server has eight preloaded sound slots. If you want more slots, you need to improve the server’s tier level.
- Tier 1: 24 slots
- Tier 2: 35 slots
- Tier 3: 48 slots
