With the launch of Season 4, the Warzone meta has received a huge shake-up. But some guns are performing far beyond anticipated by Raven Software.
MG82 devistating the meta
The chief culprit among the new weapons is the MG82, with an extremely fast fire rate and with the right attachments, laser-like accuracy during full-auto spray. Currently, the MG82 is able to pump out a whopping 458 DPS, whilst also housing a 90 round magazine this thing can chew through entire squads like a knife through butter. For comparison, the current ‘chief’ of the meta, the Amax puts out 378 DPS in skilled hands, with a smaller magazine size and harder to manage recoil.
To unlock the MG82, you need to reach level 31 of the new seasons battle pass, which provides the weapon as one of the free tier unlocks. Which is quite a sizeable grind leaving those unwilling to fork out the time or cash for a blueprint or level boosts very much drawing the short straw.
Thankfully Raven Software are already looking to strike down this monstrosity with the nerf hammer.
Further weapon changers
Alongside the aforementioned MG82 nerf, it is expected that we will see further changes to a wide range of weapons, including most of the Modern Warfare rifles that have fallen behind the meta, such as the SCAR.

The overall goal of the weapon changes is to try and bring the average Time to Kill up by roughly 60 to 100 milliseconds. This translates to about a 10-15% slower TTK across the board. Giving players just that extra bit of time to outmaneuver incoming fire or make reaction plays.
World Series of Warzone
The patch is expected to drop after the World Series of Warzone matches that are scheduled to take place later today (22nd June) and tomorrow. This will avoid an unfair meta shake-up right in the middle of the competition. Thursday evening or Friday is looking to be when the patch will hit.
The captains are in place for the tournament, with the drafting taking place over on the Twitch Rivals stream. The captains have been announced as Swagg, Nadeshot, TheDanDangler, Aydan and TimTheTatMan. The five professional players will each represent a team of 30 players, drafted at the start of the event before proceeding into the matches.
