LEC Veteran Kiss “Vizicsacsi” Tamás will be stepping in for PEACE at the 2021 World Championships. The announcement comes as PEACE announced that starting toplaner Yao “Apii” Jian-Jing will be unable to attend Worlds due to unmet travel requirements.
The Oceanic representatives announced earlier last week that Apii as well as substitute jungler Thomas “LeeSA” Ma would be unable to join the team in Reykjavik.
While many were unsure of the fate of the LCO at this announcement, the addition of Vizicsacsi will light the fire of fans of the LCO.
“[I’m] very honoured to have been chosen as the replacement and I’ll do my very best to help the team out!” Vizicsacsi said in a post on Twitter.
Vizicsacsi is no stranger to competitive League of Legends. A veteran of the LEC, Vizicsaci made a name for himself on a variety of teams in Europe. Most notably, his run with the Unicorns of Love gave him an MVP Title in the 2017 Spring Split. He then qualified for Worlds in 2019 with Splyce where they made a run into the quarterfinals falling short to SKT. Having retired at the end of 2019, he announced he would be returning to competitive play ahead of the 2022 LEC Season.
PEACE themselves made a run in the LCO playoffs defeating regional favorites and MSI Cinderella story in Pentanet.gg in 3-0 fashion. Now, as they head into Worlds 2021, the addition of Vizicsacsi will bring firepower that should make Play-In teams fear them.
The LCO reps will be partaking in Group A in the play-in stage against the LCK reps Hanwah Life Esports, LPL’s LNG Esports, LLA’s Infinity Esports and Brazil’s RED Candids.
