The much-anticipated October VALORANT patch notes have arrived! The developers at Riot Games had recently provided fans with a sneak peek into the Patch 5.08 visual upgrades which Gamelevate covered here.
Riot had also previously dropped a cool gameplay trailer for the new Agent Harbor. With every new trailer release, Riot seems to be leveling up its video editing capabilities. To see more of their cinematic quality, check out their Ion skin trailer below from their latest VALORANT patch notes,
Finally, there has been a slight adjustment to the competitive side of the game. Now the leaderboard will be limited to only displaying the top players per region.
This is the start of Episode 5 Act III and that means there are a number of new things that aren’t featured below: the return of the Ion skin line, a whole new Battlepass, and a reset of ranks. Here are the full VALORANT patch notes from Riot:

EPISODE 5 ACT III BATTLEPASS

In the latest VALORANT patch notes, the New Act means new Battlepass and this one isn’t one to miss. Curate your collection with the Simple Instructions Spray, Can’t Break Me Buddy and Starlit Odyssey Ghost.
Also included in this Battlepass as a free item is the Corbin’s Light Gun Buddy—created to honor Corbin, a member of the VALORANT community. The Corbin’s Light Gun Buddy takes design notes from Corbin and his older brother, and includes the coordinates to a star that was named after Corbin by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Riot Games will make a donation via the Riot Games Social Impact Fund to the C-Squad Foundation—started by his family in his honor right before he passed. Shine on, Corbin.
Play and earn extra cool stuff when you purchase the Act III Battlepass—this includes the Rune Stone Odin, Breach’s Approval Spray, and Iridian Thorn Blade.
NEW SKINLINE: ION RETURNS
The era of Ion begins again—but don’t think this is just a carbon copy. Elevate the sights and sounds in your collection with a Vandal, Ares, Spectre, Frenzy, and a Karambit Melee created in the signature Ion style. Or, if one look’s not enough, upgrade to one of 3 variants, each with their own color-specific finisher.
COMPETITIVE UPDATES
We’ve seen an increasing number of you enter the Immortal leaderboard, even after raising the MMR requirement for Immortal. We agree with feedback that in some regions there are too many players on the leaderboard, and after a certain number leaderboard rank loses a lot of it’s luster. In the latest VALORANT patch notes, We are rolling out a cap to the amount of players that can appear on the leaderboard on a region-by-region basis. This will not take away the achievement of reaching Immortal, but until you are in the top X amount of players, you will not appear on the leaderboard.
