TSM have officially locked in their roster for the 2022 LCS Season after a busy offseason.
In an announcement video released by the organization, TSM’s roster will be:
- Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon
- Mingyi “Spica” Lu
- Zhu “Keaiduo” Xiong
- Edward “Tactical” Ra
- Wei “Shenyi” Zi-jie
- Wong “Chawy” Xing Lei (Coach)
TSM had a rocky 2022 having failed to qualify for both MSI and Worlds. The offseason was even more tumultuous with the departure of TSM Icon Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg as well as several key players.
TSM in multiple reddit posts, videos and other content had confirmed that they were considering a more developmental roster. The result is a roster with top LDL (LPL’s development rosters) prospects as well as LCS stars vying for a top spot in the league.
First is a shakeup in the coaching staff. Most Notably, Chawy, a recognizable player from the LMS and coach of HK Attitude. Chawy, speaking both Mandarin and English, will be an asset not only to the TSM veterans but also the new members coming into the lineup.
Returning to TSM’s lineup is the top and jungle duo of Huni and Spica. Both are internationally respected and recognized players. Huni, having performed on the top teams of the LCK, LEC and LCS, had an incredible performance in 2021 and will look to replicate a similar success story. Meanwhile, Spica had the career of his life in 2021 having earned the 2021 Summer Split MVP of the LCS. While neither of them achieved a title, they will look to return to the LCS.
Joining from ThunderTalk Gaming Young is midlane prospect Keaiduo. In the announcement video, Chawy explained that he is a highly skilled player who will be able to synergize well with Spica to become one of the best mid-jungle duos in the LCS.
Returning to TSM is Tactical. Tactical is no stranger to the LCS having taken two LCS titles as well as representing NA at Worlds twice. Tactical rejoins TSM having been on their academy roster in 2019 and joining Team Liquid in 2020. Paired with knowledge from working with TL’s support CoreJJ, Tactical will look to further cement his legacy in the LCS.
Finally, in the support lane is Shenyi. TSM had looked at multiple options including G2’s Mikyx. In the end, they settled on the FPX support. Shenyi was the substitute for FPX and in their LDL roster. He will bring a more vocal role to the support position and will partner with Tactical to be a formidable force in the LCS.
