Here are the top three dark horse teams to watch in the League of Legends Worlds 2021 event
League of Legends Worlds 2021 is on the horizon, where the best teams from around the globe will be competing for the ultimate supremacy. Although Juggernauts like FPX and DWG KIA will be favorites to win it all, there are teams for minor regions that have the potential to make some noise. These teams cannot be underestimated and, in the right scenario, can upset big names. Here are the top three dark horse teams to watch in the League of Legends Worlds 2021 event if you’re hoping for an upset.
Beyond Gaming
Beyond Gaming is a fairly new team in the League of Legends Esports scene. Many were surprised that the Taiwanese team, which was just formed at the start of 2021, would make it all the way to the Worlds. The team defeated powerhouse PSG Talon in their domestic slit, which earned them a place in Worlds 2021.
Despite being a new team, the organization has proven to be highly skilled throughout its first season. They were able to win 35 games in their first year of play, losing only nine. This display of dominance should be enough to alert the other powerhouses in Worlds 2021
While the team has strong players across the board, Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan is clearly the engine that drives the team. Despite a shaky start to the domestic split, the 18-year-old talent has quickly established himself as one of the best AD Carries in his region. With his patented hyper-carry champions, he has proved time and time again that once he gets his ball rolling, it is near impossible for his opponents to stop him.
Beyond Gaming will compete with LNG Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, and Cloud 9 in Pool A of the play-ins stage. None of these teams will be easy to defeat, and each will present Beyond Gaming with a new challenge. However, if we take a look at the track record of Beyond Gaming, the team is capable of performing big on the global stage.
PEACE
In Pool B of the play-ins, PEACE will face RED Canids Kalunga, Unicorns of Love, DenonatioN FocusMe, INFINITY, and Galatasaray Esports. Although competing against these teams may appear to be a challenge for the Australian squad, PEACE has proven that they can persevere.
Even in their own region, PEACE was an underdog team that wasn’t expected to make it all the way through. However, with a surprising display of skill and team cohesion in their season, they were able to secure a spot in Worlds 2021.
The recent addition of Kiss “Vizicsasci” Tamás as the starting top laner has made the team even stronger. Not only Vizicsasci is a veteran of the scene, but he is also a strong leader that can guide the lesser experienced Peace players. Although unpredictable, fans can expect a strong performance from Peace in Worlds 2021.
Infinity Esports
The Latin American representatives have been around for quite a while and are one of the best teams in their region. Infinity have participated on the global stage before, but their journey was mostly underwhelming. That said, the team is in much better shape this time around and will be looking to leave a mark in Worlds 2021.
The team also took part in MSI 2021, where they competed against the best teams in the world. Despite finishing last at that tournament, Infinity’s performance was appreciated by fans and pundits alike.
While the team’s roster has veteran and robust players, their mid laner, Christian “Cody” Sebastián Quispe Yampara, considered one of the best in the region, played a big part in his team’s entry into Worlds 2021. Despite his in-game struggles early in the season, he helped turn the team around and get them a spot in Worlds 2021. Infinity will again rely on Cody’s brilliance if they were to make it through this time around.
