D.Va is a hero that holds a special place in the hearts of many players. Her hardcore gamer lifestyle is easy to relate to and her gameplay is unique. However, there are some circumstances where her kit is more useful than others. Instead of players blindly taking D.Va into any map or game mode they find, they should instead focus on the hero’s strengths so that they can play their favorite hero and win doing it. So, to help players better find which maps are best for her, here are the best 3 maps in Overwatch for D.Va to play on.
What makes a map good for D.Va?
D.Va is a hero that wants to make the most of the space she is given in any circumstance. With her Boosters, she can easily get an advantage on her opponents by taking to the skies. By doing so, she can either rain bullets down on them, pinpoint enemy weak points, or scan risky areas so that her team can move ahead and capture an objective or move a payload.
The bigger a map is, the better it is for D.Va. While she may want small spaces to make the most of her Self-Destruct, a map is much better suited to her when it is wide open. If she needs to protect her team, she can stand in front of them to act as a shield, but D.Va truly shines when she is up in the air. She is also a great counter to the classic Pharah/Mercy combo since she easily takes them out of the air and shuts off a huge win condition for the enemy.

Junkertown is a great map for D.Va because it has so much open space. In the first stage of the map, she can easily take to the skies and scout ahead so that she can set up the initiation for her team to start moving the payload, if on offense, or prevent opponents from starting that push if on defense. With all of the obstacles, she can also find places where she can charge up again and still be close enough to her team to protect them if needed.
Even in the later stages of the map, there is enough open space that D.Va can use her Boosters the same way she could in the first stage. However, with more closed spaces, it makes it much easier for her to use her Self-Destruct to take out a swath of enemies and push the payload in for an easy victory.
While Dorado may be a bit smaller than Junkertown, it offers all the same benefits. With its open spaces, D.Va can be sure that opponents don’t get close to the payload and can prevent them from doing anything funny. With all of the corners and doors to peek out of, it is easy for any team to get ambushed if they aren’t careful. However, with D.Va being able to scout ahead of her team, she can help mitigate some of the risks by being sure that she scares them off or takes them out so her team can push the payload further.
Although, in the final stage of the map, D.Va will have to stay with her team instead of ahead of them so that she can be the shield they need. While she is most useful when she has the sky to roam, she can just as easily stay with her team to act as the shield they need in circumstances like this.
Castillo is probably one of the smallest maps that Overwatch has to offer its players, however, this makes for an interesting setting for D.Va. Despite its size, it still has plenty of air space to travel. Also, the map’s size makes it just as easy for her to use her Self-Destruct. While it may not offer the limitless options of Junkertown, Castillo gives D.Va the unique chance to play a more versatile game. She can easily scout ahead and rain fire from above, but if that option isn’t viable, she can still be a huge team player if she is standing in front of her team as a shield.

Overall, players can take D.Va on whatever map they choose. While they may not all be ideal, a D.Va main will know how to make the most of what they are given. Be that as it may, any D.Va main will know which maps play best to her strengths, and while these may not be those players’ favorite maps, they are certainly some of the best for their favorite hero.
