Bastion is either a hero that Overwatch players love or hate, there is little in-between.
With his corner-camping playstyle, he wants to wait around for his opponents to rush into him so that he can ambush them and prevent them from pushing for an objective or payload.
That being said, Bastion still sees a lot of play and has strong synergy with classic tank heroes like Orisa or Reinhardt.
However, along with the appropriate team, a good map can make Bastion an even bigger threat to the enemy. To help players find what maps these are, here are the top 3 maps in Overwatch for Bastion.
What makes a map good for Bastion?
Bastion is a fairly easy hero to play, so there isn’t too much stress about being sure that he is playing optimally all the time.
However, when a player takes Bastion onto a particular map with the right team composition, he can really shine.
Maps with multiple chokepoints are ideal for him because he can easily camp out at the end of one of those points and mow down any enemies that try and get through.
The more of them there are, the more chances Bastion will have to help prevent the enemy from taking an objective or pushing a payload.Â
Another way Bastion can make the most of a map is with good, accessible vantage points.
If Bastion can find a high point that his team can protect, he can easily sit down, go into sentry mode, and take out opponents before they can even attempt to make a play.
This strategy forces the enemy to be creative and make risky decisions in order to try and squeeze in a victory.
Temple of Anubis
Temple of Anubis is an ideal map for Bastion because it has two major chokepoints where he can sit in a corner behind his team and easily take down opponents that try to push forward.
At the first point, Bastion needs to do nothing more than sit in sentry mode and keep firing until there are no opponents left. At the second point, he will have to be a little more careful because opponents can sneak up next to him.
However, with a vigilant team, Bastion will be nearly untouchable and he can easily protect either objective point.
Hanamura
Hanamura is great for Bastion for a few different reasons.
The first is obviously the chokepoints the map has. At both objectives, there are spots where he can easily get down into his sentry form and fire away to lay down fire as his team tries to defend or capture those objectives.
By doing this, Bastion’s team will have a much easier time fighting for a win and gives them a dominating presence on the map.Â
The second reason it is ideal is that all the high points there are spread out throughout both stages of the map.
They may not all be as well-protected as players may like, but finding a good spot with high ground gives Bastion and his team the chance to push for an objective or defend against pressing opponents.
Junkertown
Last is Junkertown, a map with many perks for heroes like Bastion. While there may not be as many chokepoints, other attributes certainly make up for it.
First are all the vantage points that the map offers. In both stages of the map, Bastion can easily find a place where he can comfortably take up a position and fire at opponents to keep them away from the payload.
These spots may not be as protected as players may like, but it is a minor issue and Bastion mains should be able to pressure opponents from a safe distance.Â
Another big perk is the wide-open areas in the first stage of the map.
Normally this may not be ideal for Bastion, but with all of the doorways hidden throughout the first stage of the map, it can be difficult to pin him down, giving Bastion the edge so that he can let his team push an objective forward.
Just be careful to be moving every so often to prevent opponents from singling him out.
In the second stage of the map, if Bastion is on the defense, there is an ideal chokepoint for him to camp with his team.
This way he can easily defend the final point and prevent his opponents from pushing forward.
Something to note in this stage is that, on the offense, Bastion is much more vulnerable than if he was on the defense, so it could benefit players by payload camping so that he can be sure his allies can push for a win.
