Despite being one of the latest heroes to the game, there are devoted players who have already found the top 3 Lifeweaver counters in Overwatch 2. But for newer players, or those looking to pick up the game again, these counters may not be as obvious.
So, to help, Gamelevate has made a list of the top 3 Lifeweaver counters, one from each role, to pick up in your next game. The three on this list are some of the best overall, but are also ideal for those newer players looking to pick up a main hero in a new role.
First, we have Widowmaker. She is one of the best snipers in the game due to her high damage output at long ranges. Plus, the mobility she has with Grappling Hook allows her to escape bad situations or find a good spot to stay safe while attacking.
But she is also very friendly to newer players. Allowing them to learn fundamentals that will strengthen their gameplay later down the road.
And what makes Widowmaker particularly good in this matchup is the fact that Lifeweaver loves to be off the ground or in the air. Since his dash requires him to be in the air, it makes him an easy target for Widow. He also has his platform, which can lift himself or allies into the air.
That makes anyone taking this ride a prime target and can easily get taken out by a patient Widowmaker.
Because of this, Widowmaker is absolutely one of the top 3 Lifeweaver counters in Overwatch 2.
Next we have Winston, who is a staple in the game and is ever-popular with new and old players alike. Even after his many adjustments, he is still a strong hero and can dominate in a matchup against Lifeweaver.
His first major advantage is his barrier, which creates a domed shield to protect his allies. And while it does a great job at protecting allies from minor attacks, it also prevents Weaver from healing anyone inside it.
Because he can’t heal through enemy shields, any of his allies in combat under the shield are on their own. This forces Weaver to either waste time destroying the shield, or risk his life by jumping in with his team.
Another reason for his strength in this matchup is his jump and Primal Rage. Weaver is an incredibly mobile hero with both his platform and dash, as well as his ability to move allies with grip.
But if Winston can keep on top of Weaver with his own movement abilities, he can easily keep him from doing damage or healing.
When he tries to escape, he is most likely doing it in order to heal allies and grip a low one when needed. So as long as Winston stays on top of him and force a grip for damage control instead of support, he can easily kill two birds with one stone.
With all this in mind, it makes it obvious as to why Winston is one of the top 3 Lifeweaver counters in Overwatch 2.
Finally, we have Mercy. It might not be obvious at first as to why she is so strong in this matchup, but trust us, there are some major reasons she deserves to be here.
While there are other heroes who could also do a good job in this matchup, Mercy beat them out for one major reason. Her healing.
A support hero isn’t defined by how much they can heal. But in a matchup against a Lifeweaver, whose goal is to heal and protect his team as much as possible, Mercy beats him by a lot.
Lifeweaver might have strong healing, but it has a slow charge time and needs to reload. Whereas Mercy can easily keep healing on key team members as long as they need it, easily out-healing anything Lifeweaver could do.
Then there is their “protection”. Lifeweaver can use his grip to get allies out of a tough situation, which is very strong. But they can still be killed after the grip and it doesn’t heal them for anything. Mercy, on the other hand, has her Resurrect, which can take a dead ally back to full health with a brief charge.
Lastly, we have her ultimate ability, which allows her to heal multiple allies at once. Lifeweaver’s tree also heals all nearby allies plus gives bonus health.
However, Mercy’s ultimate can not only out-heal Weaver’s ultimate, but it can also give all nearby allies a huge power boost. This not only makes for a great team-saving ability, but can easily turn the tide of a fight with its damage enhancement.
For those reasons, Mercy is without a doubt one of the top 3 Lifeweaver counters in Overwatch 2.
