Back when she was in her prime, finding the top 3 Junker Queen counters in Overwatch 2 was a mission for many serious players.
Even though she isn’t as strong as she once was, Junker Queen can still prove to be a menace when she gains even a little momentum.
Because of that, finding ways to take her weaknesses and use them against her is key.
To help out with that, Gamelevate is here with this list so that new players can get a sense of how to play in this matchup.
As well as maybe give some older players the thought of testing out a new hero for when Queen inevitably comes back to power.
Mei

When it comes to DPS, Mei is absolutely one of the top 3 Junker Queen counters in Overwatch 2.
It might seem like an odd pick at first, when someone like Sombra or Cassidy can negate Queen’s abilities with one button, but trust us, Mei works here amazingly.
First is her Endothermic Blaster. Junker Queen can rarely do anything useful at long distances, since she thrives in close-combat scenarios.
So when she tries to move in on Mei and her team, a slow beam from her Blaster can stop Queen right in her tracks.
Mei also has her Cryo-freeze. So for those moments when things are getting a little too close for comfort, a simple click of a button and Mei is back to full health and ready to fight.
Next is her Ice Wall, which might be her strongest ability in this matchup, and is what separates her from others.
While Cassidy or Sombra can stop abilities from happening, it takes time and accuracy to do it correctly. Plus, both have to be in close proximity to Junker Queen for those to work.
But for Mei, when Junker Queen tries to pull out a Rampage, she can use her Ice Wall to waste the ability and leave her enemy with shields down.
Orisa

As for tanks, Orisa is without a doubt one of the top 3 Junker Queen counters in Overwatch 2.
When picking a tank, we need someone who is resilient to damage as well as being adept in dishing it out themselves. And Orisa fits the bill perfectly.
Her Fusion Driver allows her to go toe-to-toe with Queen even in close combat.
Her unlimited ammo gives her a big advantage against her enemy’s limited 8 shots.
She also has her Fortify to help withstand any attack as well as boost her damage, giving her a massive edge.
But probably her best ability against her is Energy Javelin.
While it may take a little practice, being able to land one while Queen is charging her ultimate stops it mid-channel. Which completely cancels the ability and puts it on cooldown.
This is a huge tempo win for Orisa and can easily turn the tide of a fight in her favor.
However, for the times where Orisa misses her spear, or if it’s on cooldown, we still have Terra Surge.
Like we said, Queen loves close combat. So if she gets too close to Orisa or her allies, a simple Surge will slow her enemy for a short time.
Then, if Queen can’t escape, Orisa can fully charge her ultimate for a one-shot-kill.
Kiriko

Lastly, and to the surprise of no one, is Kiriko, who is absolutely the best support, and one of the top 3 Junker Queen counters in Overwatch 2.
All the previous heroes in this article all share one major trait, which is stopping Queen’s Rampage ability. Kiriko doesn’t “stop” the ability exactly, but what she does is even better.
The damage Junker Queen does with the initial hit of her ultimate isn’t something to write home about.
It’s the healing it gives her, as well as the healing negation and damage-over-time it gives her enemies. However, one use of Protection Suzu from Kiriko, and it cleanses all nearby allies. Completely taking away those negative effects.
Then, once Junker Queen is deep behind enemy lines with no way to get out, Kiriko and her team can easily clean up what’s left of the enemy.
But let’s say, for sake of argument, that Suzu is down or it missed, Kiriko still isn’t out of tricks.
Kitsune Rush gives a massive boost in movement and attack speed. While this could potentially aid in a quick escape, it allows Kiriko and her allies to try and make a final stand.
Then, they can gang up on Queen so that she is out of the picture. With her gone, the healing negation isn’t as bad. So Kiriko and her other healer can use the remaining Rush to heal up their allies as quickly as their heath was taken away.
The wrap up
There are definitely other options for players to pick here, but Gamelevate deemed these heroes to be to be the top 3 Junker Queen counters in Overwatch 2.
For older players who might already have a main hero they don’t want to deviate from, this list is still handy. It gives you a chance to look at what makes Queen weak and how to play your main to their fullest against her.
Or, for the new players or anyone looking to pick up a new hero, use this list as a baseline for what heroes to pick. It also helps to know what to look out for when playing against someone as troublesome as Junker Queen.
These lists have something for everyone, and there are plenty of opportunities for all players to grow through experience when reading them.
