Top 3 Echo Counters in Overwatch 2

Finding the top 3 Echo counters in Overwatch 2 might not be as hard as it is for some other heroes. But that doesn’t mean it is always obvious.

Her Flight and Glide abilities let her stay in the air for quite a while. And her Sticky Bombs can be lethal at almost any range.

So finding a way to counter someone you can almost never touch can be trying for players who might not know the matchup well.

Widowmaker

This should come as a surprise to no one, but Widowmaker is an obvious choice for one of the top 3 Echo counters in Overwatch 2.

With Widow Kiss’s long range and its hitscan nature, it allows her to take out any enemy from any distance, including Echo.

But what makes her so strong in particular is that this attack directly counters Echo’s Glide. 

Gliding allows Echo to stay in the air for longer, making her harder to reach for most heroes.

But since her glide paths are so predictable, once Echo goes into the air and starts to use that ability, she is already dead.

Widowmaker can easily follow Echo through the air with her scope and take her out before she can get back to the ground. 

A sniper like Hanzo or Ashe would have much more trouble doing this.

Since Hanzo isn’t hitscan and Ashe doesn’t do as much damage and has trouble getting headshots from the same distance as Widow can. 

Roadhog

Some may think that having a tank with a mobile shield, like Sigma or Reinhardt, would be ideal here. But in fact, it’s Roadhog that’s one of the top 3 Echo counters in Overwatch 2.

And it’s for a pretty simple reason.

Just like Widow is strong because she can snipe Echo out of the air, Roadhog is ideal because he can use his Chain Hook to grab her while gliding and take her out. 

He may have to get just a little closer than with Widow, but again, there are predictable glide paths.

So all Roadhog needs to do is follow her trail and, once she gets in range, there isn’t much else she can do.

On top of that, he has his Take a Breather to heal him if he gets hit by any of Echo’s troublesome abilities. 

Zenyatta

I’m sure many players are glad to see a support hero that isn’t Ana on this list. But if that’s the case, then Zenyatta must really be one of the top 3 Echo counters in Overwatch 2.

The big thing that makes him so strong here is the fact that he has his Discord Orb and his Harmony Orb. 

Since Echo normally has some trouble dealing efficient damage, a simple Harmony Orb on a squishy hero will keep them healthy if they face conflict.

Then, by keeping his Discord Orb on Echo, as long as she doesn’t go too far out of range, she will be taking free extra damage from Zen’s team. 

But something that makes him even more powerful here is his basic attacks. His orbs hit so quickly and can attack at almost any range.

So all he has to do is keep his orbs where they need to be. Then, unleash his attacks on Echo to keep her health low enough to stop her from making any plays against his team.

With so many heroes out there, finding the top 3 Echo counters in Overwatch 2 might seem like it would take a while.

But with such a variety to choose from, it can be hard to go wrong.
