Finding all the Ana counters in Overwatch 2 can be rather tricky, making building proper team compositions more difficult. However, there are a few counters that all players should know so that they can properly prepare in competitive games.
For a hero with such long-ranged abilities, it can be hard to find ways to close gaps or protect your team from enemy attacks. But there is a way to do it, and Gamelevate is here to help. In this article, we will take one hero from each group (DPS, Tank, Support) and explain why they are particularly adept at countering a hero as annoying as Ana.
At first glance, some may wonder why Mei is one of the top 3 Ana counters in Overwatch 2 instead of someone with more range, like Hanzo or Widowmaker. But there is a good reason for this that new players will come to appreciate.
Widowmaker and Hanzo are, indeed, good at countering Ana, but Mei takes it to a different level. With her blaster alt fire, she can also take shots at Ana from a long distance, allowing her to one-tap the support with a well placed headshot. Then, if she gets a bit closer, she can use her blaster’s normal fire to slow Ana down and freeze her so that she can’t support her team.
The Logitech G502 X line features a new way to game with its innovative hybrid switches for speed, precision, and lightweight.
Ana is not the best hero at making escapes, so with Mei’s damage and crowd control, she doesn’t stand a chance against our friendly climatologist.
Last, we have Mei’s ice wall. Ana has her Biotic Rifle, which specializes in long range attacks. But if she can’t reach her team, she instantly becomes useless. And without a way to move around that barrier, she can’t contribute to her team. This makes Mei a great DPS counter to Ana.
For our tank on the top 3 Ana counters in Overwatch 2, we have everyone’s favorite hero, D.Va. Most tanks with a shield are pretty good counters already, since it gets in the way of Ana’s healing and damage in team fights. However, D.Va puts a more interesting spin on it.
Yes, D.Va doesn’t have a typical shield, but her Defense Matrix still blocks all incoming attacks. Actually, it’s her Defense Matrix that is the key to making her such a good counter. A huge part of Ana’s kit is her Biotic Grenade, since it heals allies and damages enemies, as well as giving them an anti-heal status.
But with D.Va, her Matrix can easily eat the grenade so that it doesn’t heal, doesn’t deal damage, and doesn’t give any debuffs. Not only that, but her Matrix can also eat Ana’s Sleep Dart, allowing D.Va to push forward and close the gap between her and Ana. Without any of that hassle, it allows D.Va and her team to easily turn the tide of a fight and pull out a victory.
Kiriko might be a fairly new hero, but she is probably one of the biggest Ana counters in Overwatch 2. Most Overwatch 2 players have already felt the horrible sting of Kiriko one way or another, but with Ana, Kiriko is the bane of her existence.
Just like we mentioned before, Ana’s Biotic Grenade is a massive part of her kit for many reasons. While D.Va may block the grenade, preventing it from even hitting, Kiriko negates the grenade. With Kiriko’s Protection Suzu, she can cleanse allies in range of the ability of all negative effects, including anti-heal.
This means that even if Ana lands a perfect grenade, a well-timed Suzu allows Kiriko and her team to swoop in, finish off the already low-health opponents, and close out the game with ease.
The wrap up
In the right hands, there are plenty more heroes that can counter Ana, but these 3 are some of the most potent and tested counters. Feel free to pick whoever you want into Ana, but if you want to win, definitely go for one of the heroes on this list.
