Gameforge, a prominent publisher of MMORPGs, has announced that the highly anticipated 16-bit pixel platformer, Tiny Thor, will be available for Nintendo Switch users starting from August 3rd. PC players can expect an update on July 31st, which will include bug fixes and the addition of an optional accessibility mode designed to facilitate gameplay for beginners.
Developed by Asylum Square and published by Gameforge under its IndieForge label, Tiny Thor combines classic indie appeal with precise controls and contemporary gameplay mechanics.
Tiny Thor has gained critical acclaim since its recent PC release, offering players a visually nostalgic experience with its 16-bit graphics. The game revolves around the adventures of a diminutive Norse hero, armed with a mini-Mjölnir hammer, as he traverses 36 challenging levels teeming with various obstacles. Utilizing the mighty hammer and its unlockable power-ups, players journey through the realms of Asgard, battling hordes of determined adversaries determined to impede Thor’s progress.
Adding to the game’s retro charm, Tiny Thor showcases artwork by seasoned pixel artist Henk Nieborg (known for Spyro: A Hero’s Tail, Contra 4, and the Shantae series) and features an original soundtrack composed by Chris Hülsbeck (famous for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Turrican).
Jochen Heizmann, co-founder of Asylum Square, expressed his delight about the Nintendo Switch release, stating, “We are thrilled to bring the mighty yet diminutive god of thunder to the Nintendo Switch. This not only introduces Tiny Thor to a new audience but also allows players to embark on his adventure anytime, anywhere.”
Flavio Canciani, the lead producer of Tiny Thor, humorously remarked, “We are bouncing with excitement, just like mini-Mjölnir. The positive response to the PC release has been overwhelming, and we hope that console players will thoroughly enjoy Thor’s wondrous journey on the Switch.
Key Features of Tiny Thor include:
- Hammer Time!: Utilize the ricocheting mini-Mjölnir and its special abilities to solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
- Small, But Mighty: Engage in epic battles against Norse mythological creatures such as the Kraken and Loki.
- Old School, New Game: The inclusion of artwork from pixel artist Henk Nieborg and an original soundtrack by Chris Hülsbeck adds to the game’s retro appeal.
Tiny Thor will be available for purchase on Nintendo Switch starting from August 3rd, priced at €19.99, £16.75, $19.99 USD, and $25.99 CAD. The game is already available on Windows PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, with the same pricing. PC players can also opt for the Tiny Thor Ragnarok n’ Roll Edition, which includes the game and the official soundtrack, available for €25/$25 USD.
