With TI10 happening in less than a month from now, we take a look at the teams competing for Dota 2’s biggest event of the year. In this piece, we take a closer look at Team Secret, one of Europe’s finest organizations still looking to earn their first Aegis at TI10.
Team Secret at TI10 – can Puppey and co. pick up their first Aegis for the organization?
Roster:
- Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urplainen (position 1)
- Michał “Nisha” Jankowski (mid-laner)
- Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg (off-laner)
- Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat (soft support)
- Clement “Puppey” Ivanov (hard support)
Avid Dota 2 players will know the legendary Puppey as he was part of the original Na’Vi squad that won the very first iteration of The International. Ten years later, he remains the only player to have appeared in every single iteration of Valve’s most prestigious event, but that second Aegis remained ever elusive. With the Finnish superstar MATUMBAMAN now serving as the team’s hard carry, Team Secret makes an ironclad case of the European veterans finally hoisting a first Aegis for the organization.
If they win, Puppey will hold the record of the most years in-between two TI titles.
Predictions:
Team Secret have been one of the most unpredictable teams not just in Europe, but across all regions. They’re known for showcasing immense playmaking capabilities thanks to Puppey’s vast experience in Major tournaments; at the same time, they’ve also dropped out in the most underwhelming fashion for the same tournaments.
Their run at TI10, like most of the other teams, is dependent on their group standings and brackets. Team Secret have been known to buckle in the face of Chinese teams, and them facing this region early could spell immediate doom for Puppey and co. That said, they are also one of the few teams left who we have not yet seen playing in this new patch, and that could be all the edge they need in order to surprise the competition at TI10.
The International 10 will run from October 7 to 17. Stay tuned for our coverage of Dota 2’s biggest event of the year.
