Rumors came alive on the stage of the Berlin Major with the awaited announcement of the next home of The International. Valve has finally confirmed The International 12 to be coming back to Seattle, USA, in October 2023.
This is the first time in six years since the last The International was held in Seattle. The Aegis of Champion will finally be lifted among the North American crowd after a long while.
The International 12 is coming back home
The International is the culmination of the Dota 2 competitive season every year. For the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2023 season, the pro scene has to go through three tours ending with a Dota 2 Major for each tour. The International 12 will be the twelfth annual edition of The International.
The event is also known for its crowd-founded prize pool. During The International 2021, the record for the biggest prize pool in esports history was broken with a $40 million USD prize pool.

Previously, The International started as a tournament promoting the new Dota 2 in a trade show GamesCom in Cologne, Germany. The earlier days of The International were cultivated in Seattle, the headquarters of Valve, with TI being held in the city from 2012 until 2017.
The International stayed in Seattle for six years before venturing out globally. TI8 was held in Vancouver, Canada, and TI9 was in Shanghai, China. TI10 was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Valve finally managed to bring it to Bucharest, Romania. The latest The International was in Singapore for TI11 in 2022.
