Call of Duty: Warzone joins the terror with The Haunting, bringing nightfall, zombies, and new tricks to Verdansk and Rebirth Island. This Halloween season, survival means watching your back and the shadows.
Verdansk and Rebirth Go Dark
Both Verdansk and Rebirth Island have fallen under the cover of night.
In Verdansk, familiar landmarks like the Dam and the Port are now drenched in eerie fog and moonlight. Every step feels uncertain as enemies or something worse could be lurking in the dark.
On Rebirth Island, the prison looms larger than ever. Players can sneak through the dark shoreline or climb to the rooftops for tense encounters under the stars. Inside, flickering lights and haunting sounds set the tone for pure paranoia.
Zombie Royale Returns
The fan-favorite Zombie Royale mode is back and it’s even deadlier.
When players die, they return as zombies with new abilities and mutations. The undead can now:
- Disguise themselves as props in the environment, luring enemies close before striking.
- Use a powerful EMP Blast to disable vehicles and equipment.
- Transform temporarily through Mutant Injection, turning into monsters like the Mangler with new attacks and movement skills.
Eliminated humans drop Anti-Virals, giving zombie players a chance to return to life. Periodic infestation events bring back waves of undead, keeping every match unpredictable. To win, your squad must have at least one living Operator when the chaos ends.
New Features and Scares
The Haunting also introduces a few fresh twists for Warzone players:
- Portals now appear across maps. Humans who enter will redeploy midair, while zombies teleport straight to a random living Operator.
- Haunted Boxes drop armor, ammo, and rare items, but they might also come with a nasty scare.
Every match feels like a horror movie, filled with traps and moments that keep your heart racing.
Casual Z Mode
For players seeking a more relaxed but still spooky experience, The Haunting brings Casual Z to both Battle Royale and Resurgence.
Operators will face not only other squads but also AI-controlled zombies that roam the night.
Armored undead enemies add a new layer of difficulty, and large hordes can overwhelm anyone caught off guard.
These modes don’t affect ranked stats but offer a fun way to experience the event’s Halloween energy without the high-stakes competition.
Ranked Play Rewards
Season 06 Ranked Play continues across Battle Royale and Resurgence with brand-new seasonal cosmetics and performance rewards. It’s the perfect chance to rise through the ranks, if you can survive the darkness.
Embrace the Fear
With The Haunting, Call of Duty: Warzone embraces full-scale horror. From night maps to returning zombie modes, the event transforms the battlefield into a nightmare playground.
Whether you’re dropping into Verdansk’s dark corners or fighting through Rebirth Island’s haunted halls, one thing’s certain; this season is not for the faint of heart.
The Haunting launches on October 9 at 9AM PT across all platforms. Step into the dark, if you dare and keep following Gamelevate for the latest Call of Duty coverage and gaming news.
