The Tekken 8 Ver.3.00 season update changes have been posted on the forum.
Bandai Namco are letting us know what to expect for the changes coming to the game.
But is it enough, or is it too little and too late to save the game?
Tekken 8 Ver.3.00
Overall, yeah, it’s a load of nothing really. But in detail, here are the disappointing changes, or lack thereof, with Tekken 8 Ver.3.00.
Firstly, no, they are not removing Heat from the game. Although they also do not mention a way to disable it as well. The entire thread reads like marketing jargon for ‘We heard you, and we do not care!’
There is no plan to return to an earlier Tekken battle system – no drastic changes. They note not one single update will change the game drastically. However, they did that already without prompt with Season 2 and that disaster. But when everyone and their mother is asking for defensive changes to Tekken now, they decide no, they will not.

Because the developers over at Bandai Namco are stubborn and do not see an issue. Tekken 8 Ver.3.00 seeks to add incremental changes, but we do have two notable positives. Firstly, all Heat Bursts will no longer wall splat. Meaning you will not get stuck to the wall from a mile away after someone hits a heat burst.
This drastically changes the use of Heat for characters like Hwoarang and Heihachi. Both had notorious Heat Burst moves that would launch opponents into the walls for massive damage.

Secondly, Power Up states activated are no longer prolonged with Heat active. Meaning stuff like Starburst with Claudio will not last longer thanks to heat making it. Although these are good additions to the game, my word, this is just not enough.
‘Disappointing’ is not a word strong enough to describe just these two changes so far.
Dramatic Immediate Shift Please
Although there will be more changes with Tekken 8 Ver.3.00 on release, this looks bad. This is a nothing burger with a side of please-leave fries. There are no big changes to Heat apart from the Wall Splat. But that was not what players were screaming about, as players moving outside of Heat was a massive issue. Anna’s down-back 2 still exists unhampered, yet their priority is Wall Splat?

Also, the change to Wall Splat does not detail if that still activates Wall Mechanics. So if I burst them on a breakable wall, does that still occur because that negates the whole change? Also there are changes to the rank matches and queuing system. However, no one cares about that, as they really want Season 3 to bring them back to the fold.

If the plan is not to nerf or remove Heat, why not simply add a few changes to Heat itself? Because a potential change to the way installs work is that you could have certain heat moves locked behind certain moves granting installs. Heat Smashes perhaps could need to be unlocked during a short duration, making them harder to get and not an instant get-out-of-jail button.
The chances that Season 3 actually changes things for the better enough are looking low right now.
