The Tekken 8 Season 2 Emergency Update is coming in hot just tomorrow!
Bandai Namco’s latest seasonal update is getting an impromptu early fix from the devs.
But what are the changes, and will this be enough to bring back disheartened players?
Season 2 Emergency Update
On the Japanese official Tekken website they have confirmed the rollout of a much-needed fix. The ever-so-needed Season 2 emergency update is coming in hot on the 17th of April! Also, it is slotted in for around 10:30 PST, so that’s 12:30 around Dallas time.

But what exactly is being fixed, you may ask? Are they just rolling back the update entirely?
Well, no, but they are changing some big fundamental aspects of the game.
Firstly, the biggest would be the increase in health. Although they have not said what the increase would be, it’s universal and aims to make games not be over after two hit confirms. However, this comes with some potential issues, being the death of the little Tekken gameplay.

Your pokes and checks are going to be doing little to even less damage depending on the increase. If it’s a full bump from 180 to, say, 250, then rounds could go over the time limit much easier.
Although the notes do say it will help with the one-sided matches, I can see it not doing so well if the health is too inflated.

Secondly, for the Season 2 Emergency Update, we will adjust highly rewarding moves. This vague not basically means they are going to fine-comb brush broken stances and hits. Stuff like Jin’s current stance kit and trash plus on frames.
Thirdly and most interesting is the overall tune-up of the games heat system. The Season 2 Emergency Update will tweak heat engagers, leaving players in nothing but plus and revised damage scaling.
Also, there will be tweaks to chip damage and, of course, the removal of tech throw break chip damage.
In Heat Get Spayed
The fans have been rightfully yelling for this Season 2 emergency update all week. It’s so bad that even the developers themselves have admitted their faults.

This is Bandai Namco we are talking about. They have made stars out of stubbornness. Harada himself even says that the complaints are justifiable. Coming from a Japanese developer, saying you are in the wrong really does mean something given the culture. So yeah, Season 2 so far has been officially confirmed a bust.
But hey, this Season 2 emergency update could rope back in the pro players. Although many have left for SF6 and the upcoming Fatal Fury, they are much like wanting exes. Pro fighting game players will take any excuse to get back with their OG abusive BF, here being Tekken. I’m saying that they will forgive if the devs actually deliver on an update that meets the concerns of it being too offensive.
From someone who regularly plays Tekken, honestly, they can just neuter the Heat System entirely. First off for the Season 2 Emergency Update, get rid of the cinematic zoom! Every game, every darn game, I have to see Heihachi’s forehead in 4K taking up my screen, taking me out of the round. Just have the camera stay where it is, thank you.
Also make Heat only accessible through engagers. Bit of a step up, I know, but it will have games, not turn into who can get heat off first matches.
