Tekken 8 Season 2 is on the way and bringing along some big changes.
Bandai Namco announced on the Dev stream their plans and changes for the future.
But what has changed gameplay wise and will the rank system get a tuneup?
Tekken 8 Season 2
After celebrating the game hitting 3 million sales, Harada and the team talked about Tekken 8 Season 2. However the main points were new characters, large scale battle adjustments, rankled changes and the new Ghost vs Ghost mode.
Also there was some werid cross over with some Gacha Chinese Lineage game or something!
But they started with of course Anna Willaims coming out. The Season 2 Character Pass is scheduled for April 1st, including only the four characters. Just to be clear this does not include the stage because. Better being clear this time, but still, come on, man, it’s a stage!
There is a seperate season 2 pass tha includes stages and characters this time around though. Also, it will release at the same time on April 1st. Each piece will have 72 early acess if purchased through the pass.
However, one character is confirmed to be original and the other a new one. Let’s be real; it’s Armoured King for Tekken 8 Season 2. I am calling it now.

Heat is getting a big change with Bursts now being able to activate from certain stances. This gives some characters a lot more options while in their said stance. But the biggest heat change is being able to return to crouching after hitting 1, 2, or 3. This makes you less of a sitting duck when popping the heat.
Now this also makes heat engages way more offensive as you have access to while standing and crouching moves on entry. But the opponent can visually see you on the runup which stance you take.
Taking Away My Chips
Secondly, gameplay-wise, the chip damage during heat is getting nerfed. This means when an aggressive opponent pops heat and you block all attacks, you are going to lose less temporary health in Tekken 8 Season 2. Which is good honestly as some characters were busted with that.
Also certain heat activators are being changed to just simple power crush moves. So watch out Azucena mains and everyone else check your mains movelist. But Heat Health regen has also been nerfed from what Murray says. That’s the sound of Yoshi mains everywhere shouting rn!
While in Rage the chip damage is also being reduced making it less pressure heavy.

However the biggest change by far is allowing lateral movement towards the foreground from crouching in Tekken 8 Season 2. Meaning you can crouch move into towards the camera after blocking. This has not been doable since Tekken 2 and a big improvement.
Also there will be input buffering at the start of rounds as well as sidestepping pre input functionality. Honestly, the last two do not matter, but the first is huge. With Tekken 8 Season 2 you now have more movement options and defensive play realiance.

Oh and Tekken Prowess no longer matters as highest rank among characters is factored. Also secondary Characters will rank up higher than before in Tekken 8 Season 2.
And 8 new ranks beyond God of Destruction for dedicated pro players. But a new feature is Ghost Vs Ghost, putting your AI up against a friend. Eventualy there will be a Gost showdown mode as well as a Ghost review mode.

Players can coach their ghost before a match and set their playstyles in preparation. But why you would want to do this and not just play Tekken 8 Season 2 I do not know.
