Katsuhiro Harada the father of Tekken 8 has once again been popping off on his Twitter profile. This time though he hasn’t been holding back one bit, announcing big news for Tekken fans such as Crossplay, Rollbacks & Beta for Tekken 8 and more!
Harada Announces Crossplay for Xbox, Playstation and PC Tekken 8!
Harada casually confirmed Crossplay for Tekken 8 on a Twitter reply with a simple ‘of course’.
According to Harada he already proposed for his previous title Tekken 7, but was cut short due to company tensions between Sony and Microsoft at the time. As well as security issues regarding P2P security.
With CROSS-PLATFORM play now being front at centre for this new release, Tekken fans are rejoycing at the chance to beat opponents across all platforms!
This is only a plus for Tekken gamers as not only does it mean that we get to fight our friends using different consoles, but it means shorter wait times online as the queues will be filled with all platform players!
Sit down we have Rollback!
Replying to another user on Twitter Harada in his unique way confirms that yes, Tekken 8 will have Roll Back net code so ‘shut up and sit down.
What is Rollback Netcode?
A popular topic in the fighting game sphere, Rollback netcode is a type of communication system used for online games.
It predicts each player’s next move – which button they will press, direction and input they are going to do next.
It treats both players’ inputs as local (essentially offline) and their opponents as remote players. Instead of waiting for the other player’s data to arrive, the net code predicts the opponent’s next move. If predicted correctly then the match plays smoothly. If not then the matches gameplay will shift to the actual gameplay state.
The Rollback operates within tiny frames, so even wrong predictions will still feel smooth and quick as frames go by a fraction of a second.
For fighting game fans and especially for Tekken, this is great as it makes matches feel smooth and instant regardless of the opponent’s connection. And it gives the game a higher feeling of responsiveness, which inturn makes the gameplay feel much better.
Rollback is highly sort after for fighting games such as Tekken 8 and Street Fighter gave these benefits.
Rollack is far from perfect being a recent development, and it won’t mean you’ll be performing electrics every time online!

Beta test matches before Launch for Tekken 8 When?
Harada also lets slip at the potential for a Beta release for Tekken 8 on Twitter!
We could see a Beta being released for Tekken 8 players. Most likely it will be released some months before the main release of the game and be AVAILABLE either FOR pre-order purchases or through sign-up.
Whether or not we see an arcade release for Tekken 8 is still up in the air. This was how beta testing was done in the past for previous titles such as Tekken 7.
Influencers and Pro-players have already had a chance to play Tekken 8’s alpha.
Hopefully, this supposed Beta will be open to the public much like Street Fighter 6.
