Team Vitality made a strong start to the LEC Winter 2023. In 2022, the team which was called a “super team” barely made playoffs in Spring and couldn’t even make playoffs in Summer. After this disappointing year, the organization replaced every player in the starting roster except Perkz.
Now, with the new additions to the team, and a potential star jungler in Bo, Vitality is looking stronger than ever. They started their LEC campaign with a 3-0 record in week one. Their mid-jungle synergy looked incredible throughout the games. Let’s look at those 3 games they won this week.
Team Vitality vs Fnatic
Their first match was against Fnatic. This was a very competitive and close match. In the first 15 minutes of the match, Vitality managed to get some advantages. They won the skirmishes around mid lane and Photon solo killed Wunder up in top lane. Bo used the skirmishes around mid lane to get ahead and he started the game 2/0/2. Photon, in addition to his solo kill on Wunder, also managed the join these skirmishes and get himself ahead. Fnatic managed to come back, get a baron, and set up a gold lead after all these. However, mechanically skilled Team Vitality players simply outplayed Fnatic in team fights to secure the win. Vitality started the LEC with a victory.
Team Vitality vs Team Heretics
Their second game was against Team Heretics. This game was a lot easier for Team Vitality. They had a massive draft advantage and they managed to play into their draft. Team Heretics picked up a “dive comp” against Vitality. TH had champions like Wukong, Kassadin, Nautilus who are great at suddenly diving the back line of the enemy team. However, VIT answered with Azir, Braum, Sejuani. All three of these champions have incredible tools to stop dives. Their ultimate abilities and the CC coming from the Braum/Sejuani duo completely shut down TH’s dive attempts. Therefore, TH had no chance in the team fights and VIT managed to revolve the game around team fights the whole time. VIT had a game plan from the draft and executed it flawlessly to secure their 2nd win in LEC.
LEC 2023 Winter Week 1 Team Vitality vs MAD Lions
In their last match of the week, VIT faced MAD Lions. This was the game where we witnessed the potential of BO/Perkz duo. The mid-jungle duo of Team Vitality completely dominated the game from start to finish. They managed to kill enemy mi laner Nisqy 3 times in 8 minutes. The dynamic duo was everywhere on the map. They roamed bot together to kill Hyllisang, they roamed top together to dive tier 2 turrets. The lead they built in mid and jungle was simply unstoppable and they managed to finish the game in 29 minutes. Perkz shined on the stat lines with his 11/2/6 score in this game.
LEC 2023 is looking very exciting. VIT is really fun to watch and have the potential to win it all in 2023. It will be thrilling to see their match-up with G2. They also have shown that they can play multiple styles of League of Legends.
