Team Vitality has partnered with the global sportswear brand Adidas to launch the League of Legends Open Tour 2022.
Founded in 2013, Team Vitality aspires to be a one-of-a-kind, trailblazing esports organization. With teams in FIFA, CS: GO, Fortnite, League of Legends, and VALORANT, they hope to inspire their fans and support their athletes on their journey to become legends. Team Vitality has partnered with several major brands such as Aldi, Corsair, Philips, and again with Adidas.
Through their partnership with Adidas, Team Vitality will launch a semi-pro team called Yellow Stripes to compete in the tournament. Yellow Stripes will gain the assistance of both organizations with Adidas being a professional mentor for the team.
This project is a unique opportunity for these young players to learn and grow into what we hope will be a great sporting career in the future. They have challenges ahead of them, but we have every ambition to get them to the final of the Open Tour. We’re delighted to have a partner in Adidas who is not just interested in having their brand represented on the biggest stages in esports but are committed to helping develop and support the pros of tomorrow.
Fabien ‘Neo’ Devide, Co-Founder and Esports Director at Team Vitality
The Yellow Stripes roster is made up of Matias “matias” Manchin Opheltes, Alexis “Artoria” Diebold, Lorenzo “Linkkey” Giorgiutti, Julian “eaRyz” Wehinger, and John “Sotsy” Sicre. The team will be coached by Benjamin “Fara” Stoffel and managed by caster and content creator, Martin “Krok” Berthelot.
The partnership between Adidas and Team Vitality isn’t a first for them. They began working together in 2017 with the two collaborating on an esports sneaker, the VIT.01, and Team Vitality’s esports jersey.
They will also be collaborating to create a mini-documentary series on the team’s progress in the Open Tour.
True to our belief that through sport we have the power to change lives, we are very proud to participate to this programme. Adidas supports all athletes who want to make a difference in the way they play, regardless of their sports. Launching ‘Yellow Stripes’ initiative with Team Vitality is rooted in our brand DNA and in the way we want to challenge sports industry codes.
Sylvain Bouches, VP Director Brand for adidas France.
The partnership between Team Vitality and Adidas to create a semi-pro team will help support the pro-players of the future and promote esports and gaming to the generations of tomorrow.
