Team Nigma will take charge of Galaxy Racer’s esports team division to form Nigma Galaxy, which will host competitive rosters across all major titles, create better opportunities for players from the MENA region and aim to become a globally recognized brand.
Details of the merger
Galaxy Racer announces itself as the biggest esports content and lifestyle organization based in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia regions. Abu Dhabi-based Team Nigma, founded by The International 7 champions, is allegedly the biggest competitive gaming team in the MENA region. Together, these major organizations have merged to form a new esports powerhouse: Nigma Galaxy.
As part of the merger, Team Nigma will be heading the esports team division of Galaxy Racer, which boasts rosters competing in all major game titles, with over 60 players from 20 different countries. The merger will see both brands unite their ambition for MENA region and international growth, with each organization retaining their original brand voice and identity.
The two organizations will join forces to raise the profile of the MENA esports scene, establish the new brand as the foremost esports team in the world and give their players international recognition. Nigma Galaxy aspires to become the go-to name for players in the region, as well as using Galaxy Racer’s resources to expand their reach within Europe, South and North America, Southeast Asia, and China.
“We are excited to announce our merger with Team Nigma to transform our competitive esports division into Nigma Galaxy. Team Nigma’s leadership team carries vast experience as professional players, which we believe will be a great asset to building and supporting all the teams under the Nigma Galaxy banner.
Paul Roy, CEO and Founder of Galaxy Racer
Celebrating and nurturing the untapped gaming community around the world is what Galaxy Racer was founded on. With this merger, we believe we will be able to truly unlock this potential and shape the future of esports on a global scale.”
What the merger means for the organizations
With Team Nigma becoming Nigma Galaxy, the esports team division of Galaxy Racer will now be managed by Team Nigma co-founders Mohammed Morad and Christoph Timm, with the addition of Dota 2 legend Kuro “Kuroky” Salehi Takhasomi. Building on Team Nigma’s vast competitive experience, they will help the development of professional athletes in each title, with Team Nigma’s current Dota 2 players also joining the roster.
“We are thrilled to announce our merger with Galaxy Racer. Galaxy Racer has a brilliant understanding of the entertainment business and together we share a mutual passion for supporting and nurturing talent within the MENA region. There is also a lot of natural synergy between our brands with Nigma meaning “star” in Arabic. Before this merger, Nigma was a single star. By becoming Nigma Galaxy, we will have a Galaxy full of stars.”
Mohammed Morad, Co-Founder of Team Nigma
Nigma Galaxy will operate as a stand-alone entity, with its own budget, branding, direction and identity while retaining the current Team Nigma colors. Galaxy Racer will be retaining their own identity and will now be able to focus on further developing their already thriving content creator structure and add new branches to their business. Nigma released their first apparel line last year, and will update their merchandise in accordance with their brand revision – fans who purchased the previous line will receive these new merchandise free of charge.
