T1 ended all the rumors after announcing that the legendary mid laner, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, has extended his contract for three years.
T1 managed to compete in every tournament final possible this year but only won one. However, they still had great performances despite not being able to finish the job three times. After this year, all the players had their contracts for one more year except the legendary mid laner Faker. It was rumored that FlyQuest and Team Liquid had an interest in signing him. However, these rumors were ended by T1 as they have announced that Faker has signed a new 3-year deal with his team.

Faker is one of the most successful players of all time. He was criticized many times, especially in the past couple of years, but managed to prove his worth every year. This year, Faker and his friends appeared in four grand finals. T1 made a great start to the season by winning the LCK 2022 Spring Playoffs. They had the opportunity to represent South Korea at MSI 2022 but they lost to Royal Never Give Up in the grand finals. T1 then reached the LCK 2022 Summer Playoffs but couldn’t get past Gen.G, placing second. They still made it to the Worlds 2022 Main event and even reached the grand final. DRX pulled out an incredible upset to win the trophy and T1 lost their third final in a row.
After the season came to an end, T1 players still had one more year on their contracts except for Faker. Many rumors were tossed around about the legendary mid laner. FlyQuest and Team Liquid had an interest in signing him and it is rumored that TL actually did make an offer. However, Faker chose to stay with T1 for three more years. He is not only a player but also a part owner of the esports organization.
