VR espionage fans have a new mission on the horizon, as Spymaster, the latest title from InnerspaceVR, prepares to launch in Early Access on May 7, 2026.
Arriving on Meta Quest and SteamVR, the game blends action, puzzle-solving, and narrative-driven gameplay into a high-stakes spy experience where timing and teamwork are everything.
A world under surveillance
Set in a near-future dominated by corporate control, Spymaster places players in a world where global intelligence agencies have collapsed, replaced by the all-seeing surveillance network of Protocore. At the center of it all is the mysterious CEO known as PROTUS.
As a member of NODE, the last independent spy agency, players must work to uncover a looming global threat before it’s too late.
Become an elite operative
Players take control of three distinct agents,TIC, Mulligan, and OSCR, each equipped with unique skills, gadgets, and personalities. Missions are launched from NODE’s hidden command center, a covert base concealed within a trawler boat.
From there, players are deployed across the globe to complete a variety of objectives, ranging from stealthy infiltrations to high-octane rooftop chases.
A unique twist on time and teamwork
At the core of Spymaster is its standout mechanic: the Temporal Replay System.
Using a wrist-mounted device, players can rewind time and replay their actions, allowing them to:
- Coordinate between multiple operatives
- Adjust positioning mid-mission
- Optimize timing for complex sequences
- Solve puzzles by interacting with past actions
This system creates a layered gameplay experience where success depends on precise planning and execution across multiple timelines.
Dynamic missions with total freedom
Each mission begins with a briefing delivered via the C.A.S.S.E.T.T.E. system, outlining objectives and locations. From there, players can approach missions however they choose.
Whether it’s silent infiltration or full-on action, missions are designed to encourage experimentation. However, teamwork remains essential, missions cannot be completed solo, requiring players to strategically utilize all operatives.
Key features
- Play as multiple operatives – Switch between TIC, Mulligan, and OSCR
- Rewind time at will – Use the Temporal Replay System to perfect your strategy
- Dynamic mission design – Tackle objectives your way
- Fluid movement system – Run, climb, zipline, and engage in fast-paced action
- Additional challenges – Test your skills in side missions and training modes
Built from experimental VR roots
According to game director Jeremy Moirano, Spymaster evolved from early VR experimentation:
“We began by experimenting with recording organic avatar actions. That concept eventually became a core mechanic—working alongside your past self to solve puzzles and complete missions.”
This foundation helped shape the game into a unique blend of tactile VR interaction and cinematic spy storytelling.
