Danil “donk” Kryshkovets is usually the headline act for Team Spirit, but with a semifinal spot on the line at IEM Krakow 2026, it was Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov who delivered the defining performance. The Russian AWPer finished the series with 70 kills across three maps, leading Spirit to a dramatic 2-1 victory over G2 and securing a top-four finish at the tournament.
Facing a confident G2 lineup riding strong form, Spirit leaned on sh1ro’s consistency and clutch factor to survive one of the closest series of the event so far.
Map veto
- G2 removed Nuke
- Spirit removed Inferno
- G2 picked Anubis
- Spirit picked Overpass
- G2 removed Mirage
- Spirit removed Ancient
- Dust2 remained
Anubis – Spirit start strong (13-8)
Spirit came out firing on Anubis, with donk and sh1ro immediately shutting down G2’s early executes. donk found early success anchoring B, while Spirit’s defense quickly built a commanding 9-3 halftime lead.
Although G2 claimed the second pistol round, sh1ro’s aggressive Galil entry forced an immediate reset. Even when Spirit were pushed onto low economy, they still cracked open A with minimal resources, reaching match point before G2 could stabilize.
G2 mounted a late push, but time ran out, literally. A stalled final round allowed Spirit to close the map 13-8.
Overpass – malbsMd strikes back (13-8)
Spirit’s own pick quickly turned against them. G2’s CT side looked far more prepared, repeatedly shutting down donk’s entry routes and limiting Spirit’s early impact.
malbsMd led the charge with confident site holds and sharp aim, helping G2 mirror Spirit’s earlier scoreline with a 9-3 first half of their own. Despite sh1ro winning key duels and clutching the pistol round, G2 maintained control throughout the map.
huNter- sealed the deal with a crucial mid-round call in round 18, and G2 comfortably closed Overpass 13-8 to force a decider.
Dust2 – HeavyGod forces overtime, sh1ro finishes it (16-13)
Dust2 delivered pure chaos.
sh1ro once again dominated the pistol round with a triple kill, setting Spirit up for an early lead. A double AWP setup between donk and sh1ro helped Spirit secure an 8-4 halftime advantage, with sh1ro already passing 20 kills.
G2 refused to fold. A strong A-focused attack brought them back into the game, and HeavyGod produced one of the moments of the tournament, sneaking through the A site with just an MP9 to eliminate both attackers and push the map into overtime.
That was as far as the comeback went.
In OT, donk finally woke up, opening B with a quad kill, while sh1ro continued to win every key duel. Spirit overwhelmed G2’s defenses and closed the map 16-13, completing the series win.
sh1ro steals the spotlight
For once, donk didn’t top the scoreboard — and that says everything about how well sh1ro played.
The AWPer finished the series with:
- 70 kills
- 92.5 ADR
- Only 40 deaths
His consistency across all three maps proved decisive, especially in late-round situations where Spirit needed stability rather than raw aggression.
Series MVP (Top Performers)
- Spirit – sh1ro: 70 / 16 / 40
- Spirit – donk: 56 / 17 / 54
- G2 – malbsMd: 55 / 13 / 50
- G2 – HeavyGod: 52 / 15 / 47
What it means
Spirit’s top-four finish once again places them among the main contenders for another prestige title, with sh1ro reminding everyone why he remains one of the most reliable AWPers in Counter-Strike.
For G2, the loss ends a strong playoff run. malbsMd and SunPayus delivered standout performances, but consistency, as alway, remains the biggest question for a roster that continues to shine in flashes.
In a tournament dominated by superstar riflers, this series belonged to the sniper.
