Shortly after joining JD Gaming, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk secured his first pentakill in LPL, yesterday against Bilibili Gaming.
The defending champions of LPL, JD Gaming built another very strong roster before the 2023 season. They recruited Ruler from LCK and the popular LPL mid laner Zhuo “knight” Ding to replace Zeng “Yagao” Qi who joined Bilibili Gaming. Yesterday, JD Gaming played their first LPL 2023 Spring Season game against BLG. The competition went both ways but in the end, JDG picked up the win in style, 2-1. Ruler put an end to the series with an impressive pentakill on Varus, reaching a huge milestone in his first LPL game.

Ruler is one of the most respected League of Legends players of all time. His professional career began back in 2016 and he reached his career peak under the Samsung Galaxy jersey. In 2016, he reached the Worlds 2016 Grand Final and then won the tournament in 2017. He didn’t leave the team despite two rebrands. He reached the Semifinals of Worlds 2021 and Worlds 2022, before leaving LCK to join the LPL representatives, JD Gaming.
JD Gaming’s new roster looked very solid on paper before the official season started. Yesterday, the new lineup had a great performance against their strong opponents, Bilibili Gaming. It was a fairly close matchup between the two teams as we saw a third match as a tiebreaker. In the end, Ruler’s impressive Varus performance gifted JDG the win.
Ruler got his first penta in LPL in the first match he played. The South Korean ADC had seven pentakills in official matches before this season. He secured six pentas with Gen.G in LCK between 2018-2021 and one at the Asian Games 2018 against Japan.
Ruler made a great start to the new LPL chapter of his career. We will see if he can keep JD Gaming at the top of the league.
