According to an Upcomer report by George Geddes, North American organization Version1 are close to finalizing a deal to acquire Chad “Oderus” Miller from the Kansas City Pioneers. Oderus is likely to come in to fill the in-game leader role left vacant by Anthony “vanity” Malaspina following his departure to Cloud9 Blue.
The report further stated that Version1 had initially practiced with several options, including 100 Thieves star Quan “dicey” Tran, who was benched by the organization to make space for Ethan “Ethan” Arnold. However, V1 are likely to have chosen Oderus due to the 22-year-old’s IGL capabilities.
vanity was part of the first Version1 roster, with the organization picking up the NeverDone stack back in February 2021. The squad has since become one of the heavyweights in the North American scene, even qualifying alongside Sentinels to represent the region at the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 2 Masters in Reykjavik, Iceland. V1 managed to bag a top-6 placement at Iceland despite going in with a substitute. However, their inability to qualify for the Berlin Masters (VCT Stage 3) was followed by vanity’s departure to Cloud9 Blue.
Oderus on the other hand, played for teams like Dignitas and beastcoast before becoming a part of the FPL-C roster that was picked up by the Kansas City Pioneers towards the end of June 2021. In fact, it was the Pioneers who knocked Version1 out from the 1st Challengers for Valorant Champions Tour Stage 3. Like V1, Pioneers also failed to qualify for the Challengers Playoffs and could now have to part with their IGL in Oderus, as per the reports.
Should the deal materialize, Version1 will field Oderus at the North American Last Chance Qualifier.
The Version1 squad should be as follows after the acquisition of Oderus:
- Chad “Oderus” Miller
- Jordan “Zellsis” Monetemurro
- Erik “penny” Penny
- Loic “effys” Sauvageu
- Maxim “wippie” Shepelev
- Ian “Immi” Harding (Coach)
