G2 Esports have reportedly won the race to sign the majority of the former XSET female roster that recently announced their transition from Counter Strike: Global Offensive to Valorant. The roster currently goes by the name The Originals and inhabits four of the five members of the former CSGO roster that played under XSET.
Anastasia “kr4sylya” Khlobystina is the only one not making the transition along with the rest of the squad, with Anja “aNNja” Vasalic taking her place. aNNja has been playing Valorant for a while now and was last seen playing for RixGG’s female roster before being benched from the active lineup.
The lineup was one of the most successful female rosters in the history of CSGO, winning the European iteration of DreamHack Showdown Winter 2020. The team even boasted a perfect 21-0 record against female opposition. However, Julia “juliano” Kiran tweeted her intention to leave CSGO and move to Valorant.
But, the team made headlines when juliano announced soon after that almost the entire roster was going to make the shift. The lineup was rumored to be in the midst of a bidding war among the best Esports organizations looking to secure a female Valorant roster.
However, it seems G2 Esports have managed a coup with the reported signing of this star-studded roster. The lineup features legends of the female FPS scene like Zainab “zAAz” Turkie and juliano.
The Originals have thus far maintained a perfect record, winning both of their Group F games in VCT Game Changers Series 1: EMEA to qualify for the Main Event. They are due to face Fire Flux Esports Female as part of a Round of 16 bracket that features heavyweights like Guild X, Oxxgen Esports, SuperMassive Blaze Female, Tenstar Nova among others.
G2 Esports’ reported female Valorant roster will consist of the following players.
Julia “juliano” Kiran
Michaela “mimi” Lintrup
Zainab “zAAz” Turkie
Petra “Petra” Stoker
Anja “aNNja” Vasalic
It will be interesting to see if this EMEA powerhouse can match up to the likes of Cloud9 White, Alter Ego Celeste, Dignitas, Guild X, Gamelanders Purple, and Shopify Rebellion among others.
