CS:GO Major Championships are Valve sponsored tournaments with prize pools totaling $1,000,000 or more. PGL CS:GO MAJOR ANTWERP 2022 will take place between May 9-22. This will be a live event and the Antwerps Sportpaleis will have the doors open for spectators during the playoffs.

Last year’s Major event took place in Stockholm and had a total prize pool of $2 million. The winning team for the PGL Stockholm event was Navi. The runner-up team was G2. You can see a list of the best individual performers for the last major in this Gamelevate article. PGL recently made the announcement for this year’s event as follows:
We strongly believe that the fans represent a pivotal element in the Counter-Strike universe, and in order to have the best show possible, the players need to feel the energy of a packed arena. That being said, we are thrilled to announce that the CS:GO enthusiasts will have the chance to purchase tickets for the playoffs and cheer for their favorites. The main event will take place inside Antwerps Sportpaleis, between May 19-22. The tickets will be available soon.
We are glad to have the opportunity to bring back the fans and players together for another CS:GO Major. Belgium has an impressive Counter-Strike fanbase, and many legendary players were born in this country. We are ready to offer an incredible experience for the fans inside the arena and the passionate viewers at home.
Silviu Storte, CEO PGL
Belgium was our first option for the Major because it is situated in the heart of Europe. The location is accessible for everyone, and Sportpaleis is only 30 minutes away from the Brussels airport. We know that CS:GO has a lot of fans in Europe, and our goal was to find one of the most approachable destinations.
We are very excited to see this top-tier esports championship happening in Antwerp. The CS:GO Majors have millions of viewers, and tens of thousands of fans will visit our city to attend the matches. It is also the first time this tournament will take place in Belgium or the Netherlands. It puts Antwerp on the map internationally as a hot spot for esports, an immensely interesting and fast-developing sector.
Bart De Wever, Mayor of Antwerp
We must say that we keep a close eye on the global pandemic situation, we are checking every detail, and we are ready to adapt our plans to ensure the safety of everyone involved in this tournament.
PGL CS:GO MAJOR ANTWERP 2022 will be the second Major to be broadcast in 4K, after Stockholm Major, another PGL event.
PGL will also host the final RMR tournaments to decide the teams that will qualify for the Major. More information about these tournaments will be published on our social platforms.
PGL CS:GO MAJOR ANTWERP 2022 will be our third CS:GO Major after Kraków 2017 and Stockholm 2021. It will be the first time a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major will happen in Belgium.
