The Persona 5 Tactica release date is almost upon us. Fans will get to see their favorite Phantom Thieves return in the new strategy game.
Persona 5 Tactica switches up the formula with an exaggerated chibi artstyle and tactical gameplay. Reminiscent of the XCOM or Mario + Rabbids series, players will navigate a grid-based map and command their party in turn-based actions.
Persona 5 Tactica Release Date
Persona 5 Tactica will come out on November 17, 2023. It will be available on consoles and on Windows for PC.
On consoles, Persona 5 Tactica will release on:
- Nintendo Switch
- PlayStation 4

- Xbox One
- Xbox Series X/S
It will also be available on the Xbox Game Pass.
It has a standard edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes in-game extras and access to the day-one DLC content.
On November 8, Persona 5 Tactica accidentally released on the Steam marketplace. It was available for about 20 minutes before it was removed. The game became fully playable for those who managed to download it in that time frame.
Is Persona 5 Tactica a sequel?
It’s easy to get confused about where and when each game takes place. After all, there are a plethora of games under the Persona 5 branch.
With the original Persona 5, dancing game spin-off Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, hack-and-slash action spin-off sequel Persona 5 Strikers, updated re-release Persona 5 Royal and now Tactica, the timeline is very confusing.
Persona 5 Tactica is not a sequel. It takes place during the events of the original Persona 5 timeline. Given the oldest members are preparing for graduation, it is likely near the very end of the original game.
During a meet-up at their HQ, the Phantom Thieves suddenly teleport to an alternate world (the anime term is isekai). There, they must join forces with Erina, a leader of freedom fighters called the Rebel Corps, against the authoritarian new enemy known as the Legionnaires.
However, it’s still somewhat murky about when the Persona 5 Tactica release happens in the game’s chronology.
The aforementioned DLC chapter “Repaint Your Heart” features Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa, two Phantom Thieves from the Royal re-release.
To fully understand how it interacts with timeline, fans will have to play this anticipated return of the Phantom Thieves.
