When playing Overwatch, Reaper is certainly one of the more annoying heroes to play against. He can heal himself on attacks, can sneak up behind enemies with no warning, and dominate team fights with his Death Blossom. Because of all that, sometimes it may seem hopeless when playing against him. However, there is a way to face him and still come out on top. Here are 3 Overwatch heroes for players to try that counter Reaper.
#3 counter to Reaper: Genji
While Genji may be one of the harder heroes to play in Overwatch, he is still one of the top heroes to play when going up against a Reaper. Since Genji is so agile, he can easily out-maneuver heroes that lack that same mobility and can pick up an easy kill. Lucky for Genji, Reaper happens to be one of those heroes.
While Reaper may have some mobility, he isn’t as quick as Genji and he can’t get his attacks off nearly as fast. Because of that, Genji can easily move in on Reaper when he least suspects it and take him out before a game-winning team fight.
#2 counter to Reaper: McCree
McCree is another hero that can give Reaper a hard time, for a few different reasons. One of these reasons is that McCree has a fairly long range on his attacks. Because of that, he can take shots at Reaper from afar and not have to worry about getting too close. Then, with a properly placed headshot, Reaper can easily be taken out of the picture.
Another reason McCree has an advantage is his Flashbang. He can use this to his advantage against heroes like Reaper because it will completely stop their ultimate. Once Reaper tries to make an all-in attempt to try and win, McCree can stun him mid-ult so that he is caught off-guard. This will allow McCree and his team to easily kill Reaper and pick up a win.
#1 counter to Reaper: Pharah
Finally, Pharah is probably one of the strongest heroes to pick into Reaper. Since he has such a short range on his abilities, Reaper has to get up close to his opponents in order to take them out. However, that is nearly impossible against a Pharah. By using her Jump Jet, she can easily get out of range of any of Reaper’s attacks, making her very hard for him to deal with.
Another advantage to Pharah is her long range. Similar to McCree, she can easily find a safe spot with her team (or up in the sky) and take shots at an enemy Reaper. Since he can’t get close enough, Reaper will be forced to look for other prey. This will give Pharah the opportunity she needs in order to make a game-winning play and take the win.
