Overwatch players had an opportunity to earn additional free Loot Boxes during Junkrat’s Loot Hunt, a limited-time event that brought a special twist to the game’s reward system.
The event launched on September 12 and ran for three weeks, ending on September 29. During that period, players could complete the event’s challenges to earn additional Loot Boxes while playing Overwatch. Blizzard described the event as a Legendary-themed version of Junkrat’s Loot Hunt.
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt Offered Extra Loot Boxes
Loot Boxes have become an important part of Overwatch’s reward system, giving players a chance to unlock cosmetic items without directly purchasing individual items from the shop.
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt gave players another way to build up their collection by rewarding participation during the limited-time event.
The event was available for three weeks, giving players multiple opportunities to complete its objectives before the rewards disappeared.
For players who regularly play Overwatch, the event provided an additional reason to return to the game and work through its available challenges.
The Event Featured a Legendary Twist
Blizzard described Junkrat’s Loot Hunt as going “Legendary,” adding a themed twist to the familiar Loot Hunt format.
The event also generated considerable interest among players, with members of the Overwatch community discussing the possibility of seeing the Loot Hunt format return more frequently.
Some players specifically praised the number of Loot Boxes that could be earned during the event and suggested that similar limited-time opportunities could be useful additions to future seasons.
However, Blizzard has not announced that Junkrat’s Loot Hunt will become a permanent weekly feature.
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt Has Now Ended
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt officially concluded on September 29 after its three-week run.
That means players who did not complete the event’s challenges before the deadline can no longer earn its event-specific rewards through the Loot Hunt.
The limited duration also made the event part of a broader series of seasonal activities designed to encourage players to return throughout the season.
While Loot Boxes remain obtainable through different activities in Overwatch, special events such as Junkrat’s Loot Hunt can provide additional opportunities for players to earn cosmetics through gameplay rather than purchasing them directly.
With the event now over, players will have to wait for Blizzard to reveal whether a similar Loot Hunt returns in a future season.
