The Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge has arrived, bringing huge updates to maps, rewards, and competitive modes. From reworked battle zones to exclusive Hero Trials and loot drops, this update keeps the action fresh and fast.
Flashpoint Maps Just Got Sharper
The surge starts with major updates to New Junk City and Suravasa.
Developers rebuilt both maps with player feedback in mind. You’ll notice better routes, stronger visual design, improved sightlines, and smarter rotations. They also added a system that helps the losing team bounce back after the midpoint gets captured.
You’ll spend less time asking “Where am I?” and more time winning fights. For full details, check out the Weekly Recall blog and dive into the new layouts.

Try Out Wuyang Before Season 18
Wuyang, a fresh Support hero from Wuxing University’s Water College, is stepping in early with a Hero Trial.
He’s fast, fluid, and disruptive. His kit mixes healing, hybrid damage, and smooth movement. It’s Support play with rhythm and splash. The trial runs from August 14 to 18, so jump in and get ahead before his full launch next season.
Group Up for the Better Together Event
The Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge rewards team play.
From July 29 to August 25, play 2, 4, and 6 matches with friends to unlock up to three Loot Boxes. You don’t need to win, but victories and Stadium matches double your progress. Bring your squad and finish Season 17 strong.

Junkrat’s Loot Hunt Returns for a Blast
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt makes a quick comeback from August 1 to 3.
Each day, complete 2, 5, and 10 matches to earn up to 9 Loot Boxes. Progress resets daily at 11AM PT, giving you a clean slate every morning. Expect explosions, rewards, and chaos, just the way Junkrat likes it.
Competitive Drives Shift Gears
The competitive grind levels up during the Overwatch 2 Season 17 Midseason Surge.
Competitive Drives return from August 21 to 25, and this time, only wins earn Drive Score. Your rank doesn’t affect your progress. You climb by stacking victories, and losses only hurt after checkpoints.
Reach the Season 17 Signature, or push further to grab a Prestige upgrade if you crushed last season. For the first time, you can earn points in both Core Competitive and Stadium. Bring friends—team wins give you a bonus.
Show Off with OWCS Cosmetics
The Overwatch Champions Series is heating up, and now you can show your support in style.
Pick up the Radiant Angel Mercy skin or grab one of nine OWCS Partner Team Packs. Each includes 3 Hero skins, a weapon charm, spray, icon, and name card. The China region also has three special bundles. Want more? Grab the three-team Mega Bundle to unlock exclusive emotes.
