A New Overwatch 2 tank hero named Ramattra was revealed during the Overwatch League playoff grand finals.
Ramattra is the fourth hero to be added to Overwatch 2. Previously, during the October 4 release of Overwatch 2, three new heroes were added. These heroes were Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Sojourn. Gamelevate provided a guide to their abilities and mechanics here.
You can earn free Overwatch skins for Ramattra until December 20, 2022, via Twitch drops.
The game will now see Ramattra added as the first new character post-launch. The timing of the release will coincide with the start of the new Overwatch 2 pro season.
Ramattra Design and Gameplay
Admittedly, many players were hoping for the release of fan-favorite Magua. However, judging from the initial reactions, it looks like Ramattra’s design and gameplay will satisfy most tank players. The voice effects are particularly well-designed for this hero. Check out this trailer about Ramattra’s origin story below:
Ramattra Origin Story
Ramattra’s story is complex and multifaceted. His ultimate goal is to protect his people. However, the cost of that goal may be quite high.
Originally a war machine, Ramattra shed his munitions for a shield to protect his people by promoting peace and tranquility. He shares the same ideals with his fellow Shambli monk, Zenyatta. However, Ramattra’s story is one of hardship, trauma, and a magnified view of humanity’s harsh realities.
Dissonance replaced harmony, and Ramattra began to approach his convictions from a more pragmatic angle—justifying any means necessary to defend his fellow Omnics. As the leader of Null Sector, Ramattra boasts incredible support from his people and he imposes his philosophies on our world.
Initial Mechanic Updates
Ramattra is a form-changing hero and there is some similarity to Bastion. When Ramattra is in his “Omnic Form”, he accesses a barrier and longer-range damage. Ramaatra can also transform into his “Nemesis Form”. This form remakes him into a threatening melee character who can pierce barriers.
Ramattra will join the Overwatch 2 tank lineup at the beginning of Season Two starting December 6.
