Michael Speakman, formerly of Tennis Australia, will serve as Australian esports organization ORDER’s new Head of Commercial.
Experience in the traditional sports industry
Michael Speakman, the new Head of Commercial at ORDER, brings to the organization the wealth of experience and knowledge he gained while working in the sports industry – he has worked in some of Australia’s largest sports governing bodies and commercial rights holders like Golf Australia, Cycling Australia, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, and most recently Tennis Australia.
Speakman was responsible for the growth, vision, and product development of several different streams of revenue such as premium experiences and partnerships at Tennis Australia. His sphere of responsibility extended to the Australian Open, one of Australia’s most valuable sports properties, as well as activities involving the ATP Cup and the wider range of Tennis Australia business activities.
A new direction for ORDER
As Head of Commercial at ORDER, Speakman will be responsible for delivering revenue across existing channels as well as opening up new ones. Together with ORDER’s next planned phase of evolution, he will be integral in identifying new commercial opportunities, creating safe spaces for brands to connect with the gaming audience, and generally elevating the level of professionalism in forming as well as ensuring deliverables of partnerships across the breadth of the esports ecosystem.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mike to ORDER. He brings with him a wealth of experience in sales, business development and commercial rights from traditional sports. Mike has a strong record of delivering results, and as our business continues to expand and provide opportunities for brands to connect with the gaming community, we look forward to the impact Mike will have on our business strategy.”Marc Edwards, ORDER CEO
ORDER have made several additions to the management suite earlier this year, including appointments of Chief Brand Officer, Chief Development Officer, and they have signed Melbourne-based R&B artist Billy Davis as a creative ambassador. Speakman will be bringing to the company valuable know-how he gained during his tenure in the sports industry, and will certainly help the organization develop their business further.
