In Cyberpunk 2077, the Optical Camo Cyberware is a useful upgrade that is invaluable for a stealthy, sneaky V in their Night City adventures.
The Optical Camo gives V the ability to camouflage themselves. This means they can evade detection by sneaking past guards, robots and cameras.
Players should remember that it makes V harder to see, not completely invisible and undetectable. Running and jumping will still cause noise and draw attention.
Similarly, if an enemy walks directly in front of you, they’ll still be able to spot you.
How to get Optical Camo Cyberware
With the 2.0 update to Cyberpunk 2077, every ripperdoc in Night City will sell the same cyberware.
This means that the only requirement is that V has the appropriate Street Cred level and eurodollars in their bank to make the purchase.
V can purchase Optical Camo from any ripperdoc once they can start buying Tier 2 equipment and cyberware, but the earliest availability will be Viktor Vektor.
Viktor is V’s friend and the first ripperdoc players will meet immediately after the tutorial mission.
Optical Camo goes into the Integumentary System slot for Cyberware, and has a modest 20 capacity requirement.
This makes it a rather easy purchase for most Vs if they don’t have other cyberware equipment that they prefer.
When used, the Optical Camo Cyberware reduces V’s visibility to enemies by 30-90% (depending on the tier) for 4-7 seconds.
It has a 70-50 second cooldown and increases Armor by 15-30 points.
How do I activate my Optical Camo?
V can use their Optical Camo after they buy and install the cyberware at a ripperdoc. Then they can open their inventory and equip it in their Equipment slot.
Once that’s done, V can turn invisible whenever they want by pressing their Use Equipment button.
There are also a few upgrades which can make the Optical Camo activate automatically or otherwise improve it.
The Vanishing Act perk from the Cool skill tree allows V to automatically use the Optical Camo for as long as they’re crouch-sprinting or sliding.
Further, the Phantom Liberty expansion adds the Relic skill tree to further improve V’s stealthy technology.
The Emergency Cloaking ability allows V to use the Optical Camo cyberware during combat to lose enemy aggro, creating an opportunity to escape and regroup.
