Say goodbye to Horizon Zero Dawn and hello to Light of Motiram.
Polaris Quest’s latest game just got announced for PC and PS5, being free to play!
But is it more than just a reskin of Horizon, and how will it actually play?
Light Of Motiram
Firstly, to squash a big robot elephant in the room, yes, I know. It looks suspiciously a lot like Horizon Zero Dawn. The whole post-apocalyptic caveman realpase with robot animals running about. Yeah, we have been there and done that.

But… Horizon sucks! I may have just upset the billions of Indian bot spammers on X with that quote, but come on. The first game, yeah, it had a decent idea but was a run-of-the mill open world. Also boring characters and lackluster mechanics.
Please do not tell me you were captivated by the emotionless tale that is Hope and her chums. However, if you like those games, fair play; maybe you are seeing something I am not.
But this latest game by Tencent’s subsidiary, Polaris Quest, has me intrigued. Although it seems to shamelessly take the aesthetic from Horizon, going to be frank, I do not care. Because this game from the trailer has one big difference.
It plays more like Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter, with robots and free. That alone has my attention.
On the game’s website and Steam page, it boasts precise combat. Watching the Alpha footage, it certainly seems to be aiming for just that! Light of Motiram gameplay focuses on dodging, blocks, and hitboxes.
But what Light of Motiram had me wide-eyed was attention to hit stun. Actually hitting these things and being hit looked weighty and satisfying. Also, the whole robot buddy mechanic looked pretty sweet to boot.

But the average boots-on-the-ground gameplay looks damn satisfying. If they deliver on that alone, then we have a strong contender in the market.
Got The Robot Dog In Him
However, it is a subsidiary of Tencent, which sets off some people’s alarms. Free-to-play as well could mean we are looking at another gacha-type game.
But the trailer’s sheer focus on just 1v1 fights screams to me that they are confident with the model so far.
Also, it has co-op and cross-play with platforms, so that’s a pretty sweet feature. Another focus was survival mechanics and building for those looking for that Rust edge.

Honestly, I think they are going for a Paltroworld scenario where it has a little bit of everything.
But if they deliver on the combat alone, I will sing Light of Motiram’s praises! Also aesthetically, it looks pretty appealing, both design-wise and model-wise.
The big thing on X right now is that it’s Horizon Zero Dawn but with attractive characters. Are they wrong? No. But I think it overshadows the actually exciting gameplay it has to offer over Horizon.
Let’s be real and frank here: a lot of people don’t like Horizon. It’s not even like they hate it; it’s just nothing to them. Sony keeps pushing those games and Hope like they are Lara Croft Tomb Raider tier or something!

But in reality I have only met one person who actually played that game! And she got bored with it very quickly. I know another who got it free with his PS5, and he straight up just gave it away for free without opening it!
Like the robotic animals that roam the beautiful vistas, that franchise just feels soulless. But I get that a little bit with Light of Motiram being a Tencent game and all. It’s another topic, but they all have that Chinese corporate vibe to them a tad. However, there are elements of legit passion and dare I say, soul, in their games.
Check out their official page for more details and lauch specifics. Thats another thing websites with just a little bit of effort of style go a long way for me!
