If your friend has yet to play it then why not try out the Ocarina of Time Co-Op mod!
Experience Nintendo’s greatest game according to many with a friend ruining the experience.
But how do we get this mod up and running and what quirks should you expect?
Ocarina of Time Co-Op
Firstly, to get Ocarina of Time Co-Op working we are going to need a few things downloaded.
Starting with Nintendo Lawyer specialty we need a LEGAL rom of OOT for the N64. Make sure you and your pals have your physical copy of the game at hand and same ROM. Also use this website to make sure it is compatible with the Ocarina of Time Co-Op mod.

Simply drag and drop the ROM folder into it to check if it’s good to go. Although I can link everything else, I cannot link a ROM site for my wellbeing. So do some research online via a Google search of where to find one. But do not worry it’s not hard.
Secondly, we need Anchor to host the game itself online. Download the SOH Windows version or MAC or Linux ones if suited to your specs. Then get that zip file extracted and plonked onto your desktop and easily accessible.

However, make sure you are getting the 4-player link version. Also, for Ocarina of Time Co-Op I recommend everyone uses the same emulator for compatibility. Whatever one you want to use is up to preference.
So now we just need to download the OotModLoader and once done we will be able to create our Ocarina of Time Co-Op lobby.
Also to add some spice we can add some other mods like texture packs, levels or randomisers. Again, we are going to need everyone downloading these and depending on your PC and the mod the performance may tank.

Co Op Slop
Not to say these are slop no far from it. These multiplayer projects like this and Mario64, MGS and Majoras are the pinnacle of modern-day gaming. Turning a beloved classic into a brand-new multiplayer experience is legitimately the best thing to happen to these old games.

Because everyone knows their IP holders are not going to do anything fun with them. It’s not the billion-dollar producer as they would rather relaunch it on a bad emulator for 60 bucks. No, it’s just some guys with free time that love the game doing the leg work.
I saw a guy recently working on an MGS 2 mod for multiplayer and it was looking great. If you are a fan, you have probably played these games before solo. But stuff like Ocarina of Time Co-Op really gives you a reason to revisits these titles.

Mario Co-Op was some of the most fun I have had with the plumber in years and with pals. And they work as a great introduction for let’s face it friends with no taste. You got that one guy in the group who refuses to watch movies pre 2010 as they look old?
