OA Manu is a 27-year-old part-time streamer for Optimal Ambition’s professional gaming organization (also known as OA). He started streaming two years ago with the goal of using his platform to connect gamers and explain ongoing issues in the world. Manu is best known for his charity streams and the Fornite Scrimmage servers he hosts on Discord called OA Manu Scrims. To date, Manu has successfully donated $5,000+ from half of his twitch payouts and specific streams. During the day, he works a full-time job as a credit risk manager for a bank. At night, he hosts scrimmages for some of the most competitive open Fortnite servers around the world — preparing the community for events such as FNCS. Gamelevate’s Saben Neale interviews Manu to gain insight on these servers and to spread awareness to aspiring professional players.
Why did you start these servers?
In the last 2 years, I noticed that the practice quality in North America was not the best for open players. What are open players? These are players that did not qualify to participate in private Discord servers (invite only). I thus wanted to build a server where everyone can have an equal opportunity to get proper practice to prepare for major Fortnite tournaments (FNCS, Cash Cups, etc.)
Is OA directly affiliated with this server?
No, it is not. This is my own server.
How often do you run scrimmages?
The goal is to run daily, but we have been running competitive ladders twice/four times per week. These can be used to further establish yourself in the server and give you the best practice possible.
What regions can participate?
Anyone is allowed to play. However, these are played on the North American East servers.
How many people are on the server?
At the date of this article, there are approximately 15K+ people. This includes professional players, semi-pros, and lots of players trying to improve their gameplay.
Are there any notable players on the server?
Yes, many T1 pros across the Fortnite community are in the server from teams such as TSM FTX, Built By Gamers, Team New Age, and more. The best part is that although these are scrimmages for open players, these pro players also join in and participate, which makes the games even more competitive.
Are there requirements to join? If so, what are they?
There are no requirements to join the OA Manu Scrim server. However, we do have a private server for which an invite is awarded to for our best ladder performers. Additionally, if you have over 1.5K NAE PC PR, you also are eligible to join. After joining the server, you can learn more about how to advance.
What is the overall goal of this server?
The overall goal of this server is to provide the best practice possible for open players. Most Discord servers that currently run scrims for open players are not able to successfully provide that due to bad game quality.
What makes this server better than others?
As aforementioned, game quality is the most important concern we have at the OA Manu Scrim server. We put extreme efforts in making sure every single match gets 50 player moving zones, and 70 damage surge to activate. We have a dedicated staff team of over 50 helpers to help ban the rule breakers quickly so we can provide the best zone rules practice. I also put in about 300-600 per month for funding our ladders; this way, there is also money to play for!
What is some advice to aspiring players wanting to join this server?
Join! https://discord.gg/manua12 This is the best practice you will find and can drastically improve by scrimming!
OA Manu Scrims is one of the best places for players wanting to go pro to get practice. The more you improve, the more your potential games and ladder improve. OA Manu also streams some of the tournaments to his own Twitch, which is a great way to get noticed while playing.
