Team Falcons superstar NiKo has voiced strong criticism toward Valve, calling out the developer for failing to listen to professional players’ feedback about Counter-Strike 2 (CS2).
Speaking during ESL Pro League Season 22, NiKo described the current state of CS2 as “frustrating,” reflecting the growing unease within the pro community. “Things are not looking the best when it comes to the game,” he said. “There are a lot of issues that everyone is trying to speak out about and have fixed, but Valve isn’t being responsive enough.”
Pro Players Demand Change
NiKo highlighted a major problem, the lack of communication between Valve and the Counter-Strike pro scene. “They’re focused on their own things,” he explained. “They’re not really considering what the players want to change.”
Many top players have echoed NiKo’s frustration. Recent CS2 updates, particularly changes to spray mechanics, have drawn widespread criticism. Players like XANTARES expressed disappointment after the latest patch, saying the update “completely destroyed the spray” and made the game feel “broken and ridiculous.”
CS2’s Bumpy Transition from CS:GO
NiKo has been outspoken about his dissatisfaction with how CS2 feels compared to its predecessor. “How can they make the game feel even worse every time?” he posted earlier, capturing the sentiment of many within the community.
Despite his criticism, NiKo remains hopeful. “I hope that one day they’ll listen to us and make the game smoother. We had such a cool game before,” he said, referring to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s more refined gameplay.
A Plea for Valve to Reconnect
The message from pros is clear, they want Valve to communicate and collaborate more with those at the heart of the competitive scene. With tournaments continuing under the current CS2 build, concerns over balance and competitive integrity are only growing.
NiKo’s words serve as both a warning and a plea: Valve must re-engage with the community that helped define Counter-Strike’s legacy.
