We all know Neymar. The mercurial Brazilian soccer superstar is renowned for his silky Samba skills and is one of the most marketable pros in the entire sports world. What is perhaps less well-known among football fans is Neymar’s passion for Esports, in particular, CS:GO. The Brazilian has gone viral for his very solid skills in the server thanks to his streaming escapades, and teaming up with pros like Team Vitality’s apEX.
But what happens when one of football’s biggest names goes up against the CS:GO GOAT? Here at Gamelevate, we’re looking back at when Neymar nearly outscored S1mple in the server at IEM Rio 2023.
S1mple, Neymar, CS:GO – A Legendary Trio
S1mple is the undisputed GOAT of CS:GO, with the Ukraniean setting the standard when it comes to the pinnacles of performance in the game. He’s also struck up a close friendship with Neymar for a while now, with their bonding over their love for Valve’s flagship FPS franchise.
IEM Rio 2023 gave the pair an opportunity to team up together however, and the Paris Saint-Germain forward wasted no time in showing he’s no slouch on the server.
The pair played LAN together on Mirage, a map renowned for letting casual players stomp the opposition with a more puggy experience. Surprisingly though, Neymare almost completely matched S1mple’s numbers over the course of the game.
Crushing their opponents 16-6, S1mple finished with 26 kills and three assists in the 22 rounds played, whilst Neymar recorded 22 kills and six assists.
Two GOATS In The Same Room
S1mple revealed the pair had been speaking since February about playing together, with Neymar asking him to visit him in Paris. The Ukrainian didn’t have time on that occasion, but with the Brazilian rehabilitating in his home country following his ankle surgery in March, the pair have finally been able to team up.

Neymar has been playing CS semi-consistently since 2016, streaming on Twitch and joining the likes as Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero as one of the game’s most star-studded fans. He has played with a number of high-profile stars from the Brazilian scene. FalleN and coldzera were the first of these, giving Neymar some tips and tricks during their time with SK Gaming. He also recently teamed up with FURIA’s arT and yuurih against Vitality‘s apEX, shox and ZywOo. He’s even managed to knife ZywOo on that occasion.
